Guys, I can not explain to you how absolutely mad my hair goes when I am down by the sea. It’s like there is a little monster that lives inside my hair and goes on a rampage every time an ounce of humidity is in the air. Of course I know my hair well enough now, and always prepare in advance. Just because it’s summer and it’s hot and humid, doesn’t mean its time for bad hair days!
Today I am sharing with you a couple of life-saving products that I personally use and find very helpful. From running around on the beach, to kicking it up at a club, my summer hair guide has you covered. We are talking dry shampoos, anti-frizz and luscious locks today, so let’s get started!
SAVE
Summer time is also Christmas time, so I understand that a few of us might need to pinch our pennies. However a limited budget doesn’t have to mean limited hair style when these guys are in town!
Pantene Anti-Frizz Smoothing Cream
This baby is a real life-saver, if you are planning a holiday to the coast. My hair frizzes normally, so you can just imagine how mad it goes when I’m by the sea(no I will not be sharing pictures of that look ;)). I have really found this guy to be a life-saver, and you just need 1-2 pumps of it, warm it up in your hands, and brush through your hair. It calms down all of the cousins and aunties and uncles that want to run wild on your head, and takes the frizz away. What I love most about it, is that it doesn’t leave residue, and doesn’t feel heavy on your hair. I am currently pouring buckets of this on my hair, so I can look semi-decent for our dinner tonight.
Dove Leave-In Hair Conditioner(RSP R70)
Leave-in hair conditioners are a fairly new, but a really good thing to have with you at all times. This one from Dove is the best one I have tried(I have tried 2 others), because of its light-weight formula and delicious scent. If you suffer with dry hair and fly aways, spray in a little bit of this on your hair every day, and you will see a difference. I know this says it’s for colour-treated hair, but I don’t color my hair and it still works like a charm for me.
Aussie Hair Care(shampoo was MIA during the photo-shoot but was later recovered at the bottom of my travel bag) (RSP for all products from R70-R100)
This is the shampoo and conditioner that I have been using since October, and its only about to finish now! This was my first time trying out Aussie products, even thought I have heard plenty about them before. What sells me about this product is that it promises to leave no build-up in the hair, and it doesn’t. Often in summer I find my self struggling because the shampoo and conditioner that I am using gets build up, and I have to wash my hair every second day(I usually only wash after 3-4 days due to my hair being so long and unruly). With Aussie, I can go those 3-4 days without washing my hair and still have it look great. A real win for me, plus their 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor is just the TLC your hair needs if you have been over-styling your hair, or it’s just been dry and in a need of a pick-me-up.
SPLURGE
I don’t joke around with my dry shampoos, especially in the summer, so I am willing to splurge quite a bit, to have my hair go that extra-day.
Redken Hair Wonders
Redken Pillow Proof Two Day Extender (not sure of the exact price, but around R280)
I have been wanting to try this guy ever since I heard of him coming out in May, and finally got my hands on him couple of weeks ago! Our first encounter didn’t go great because I expected way too much- no dry shampoo will actually ever replace washing your hair, it can only give it a boost for maximum a day. And this is exactly what this does. This also worked great for me after “bonfire hair”. You know that ugly smell that sinks into your hair after you have been chilling by the braai the whole night? Well if you are in a rush and don’t want to wash your hair, give this a spray on your roots, brush your hair, spray again all over, and I promise you, the scent goes away. I have this packed for all of the summer braais that we are having this holiday!
Cerafill Texture Effect Hair and Scalp Refreshner(RSP R260)
This dry shampoo is recommended for people who have concerns about hair loss, as the Cerafill range is especially designed for that. With the other dry shampoos , they help me to cover up oily roots, but this one really adds volume which is a huge bonus. I spray this under my hair on the roots(if that makes sense?), for an instant pick-me-up. If you have hair loss concerns, this would be a perfect addition to use with the whole of the Cerafill range. But if you are like me and want some umph in your hair, give this ago.
Davines Hair Refresher(RSP R260)
This is labelled as a hair refresher, because that’s exactly what it is. It has a mist texture, so it sprays like an aerosol, you don’t even see it. It’s a natural products(as all Davines products are), so if you have any concerns about natural products and/or prefer cruelty free products, this guy is for you. The only thing I didnt’ enjoy about it, was that if I spray it too close, it leaves white marks on my brunette hair. It’s nothing hectic and I just brush it out, but just be aware of that so you don’t end up looking like you have grey roots coming up.
Kerastase Keratin Thermique( RSP R340)
All Kerastase products are basically the holy grail of hair, and this one is no exception. The new Keratine Thermique is designed to discipline naughty hair like mine, and it’s just pury luxury in your hair. I actually only discovered the goodness that is Kerastase a couple of months ago, and wish someone can just give me a share in the brand. This baby has a milky texture and a divine scent, and helps to control, smooth and tame your hair.It also has a bunch of other great properties and ingredients in it. It works great as a heat-protectored and the build in cermadine helps to strengthen your hair. So if you have naughty hair like mine, that has a strong natural curl, hair that wants to go mad frizzy when it’s humid, and you heat-style it to keep in under control, YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. I’m more than half way through it, which just makes me want to cry, so lets not about it because I will have to sell off my shoes to try and afford a life-time supply of this.
And if you are looking for a great version of a dry shampoo, Batiste is also on my SAVE list, but I recently ran out if it, so I could’t add it on. It’s a great budget version of the Pillow Proof spray.
And now for the fun part, the part that I am going to really miss once the 12 Days Of Giveaways is done- the part where I giveaway gifts yay!
