I’ve been having an obsession with all things Bobbi Brown lately(like that’s anything new), and a lovely addition to my make-up draw has been their new Brightening Brick. Bobbi Brown is well known for the cult product that is the Shimmer Brick, so why a need for another “brick”? Well the Brightening Brick combines the effect of an illuminator, a bronzer and a blush, all in one, which is of course is super handy, and the result is super pretty! See for yourself!
The colour that I have here is called Cranberry, and while it is actually recommended for medium to dark skin tones, I think it will look gorgeous on anyone. The compact consists of 6 little bricks- it goes bronzer, blush, illuminator from left to right, and the first row is a little subtle while the second rows colour is a bit more punchy. You use a big blush brush to sweep this all over your cheeks, for an instant all-in-one pick me up. As you can see how it looks on me, my cheeks glow a healthy pink shade with subtle hints of shimmer.
Although you are supposed to use the compact all together, you really don’t have to. I often use the illuminator bits to brighten my face separately, by just applying some to the ridge of my nose and on my cheek bones. You can also use the bronzing parts separately, for a bit of a on-the-go contour session. This is really an amazing product, and while it doesn’t replace the Shimmer Brick( I will always love you baby), it has become a constant favorite for me. The Brightening Brick comes in 5 more shades, suitable for all the different skin tones, and they go for R695 each.
PS I don’t know if you have experienced this before, but often with my powder products such as this one, I tend to have a waxy build up on top of the product, which stops it from picking up colour when you try and use it. The reason for this, is that you can transfer the oils from your face onto your blush brush, and into the product, which is what causes the build up. There is no need to now give up on your product and throw it away, its really not its fault 😉 All you have to do is scrape the build up off with a plastic knife, and it will be back to normal This often happens to my blushes, so in case I am not the only one this happens to, give this trick a try.

Yip, that happens to me too sometimes, especially with MAC blushes for some reason. I also just scrape it though.

Great tip! It also happens to my blushes thanks to also being a fairly oily skinned girl haha. Such a beautiful brick though!
