I am a high heels girl through and through, but every now and again a pair of shoes will come along where I am happy to give my heels the night off. I have always loved Converse, and just last month I was telling le boyfriend that it’s about time I got myself a pair of Chuck Taylors, when these guys came knocking on my door. To celebrate the new “Made By You” campaign, I was given a pair of Chuck Taylors to show how I wear my Converse. For the winter 2015 campaign, Converse scoured the globe to collect beloved and distinctly personal Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers, each of which tells a story of transformation from blank canvas to self-portrait of their owner.
“Made By you”is a true celebration of creative individuals, their stories and their sneakers. Whether they are hand painted, covered in mud or worn out with holes, each Chuck Taylor All Star portrait tells a deeply personal story of the transformation from a white, black, red or navy sneaker into a remarkable piece of art. However worn, customized, modified or pristine, the portraits demonstrate the vast potential of an ultimate blank canvas. I got my portrait done at the intimate dinner that was held for the campaign a couple of weeks ago, and while my Converse are still white, shiny and new, I sure do look forward to them becoming “mine”- all worn it from travels to the airports and foreign countries, collecting dust when I run around campus and getting some colour splashed on them at music festivals. It will be interesting to see just how much these Chuck Taylors change in a year!
For this look I tried something new besides the Converse- a pair of dungarees! Since we were heading to the farm, I thought this would be a perfect backdrop for the photos, and for the dungarees. I really do think its such fun trend, and while some people may think that dungarees should stay in the 90s, I say give them a go if you are interested. I remember loving dungarees when I was a kid and now I am giving them another run! The Converse went perfectly with them, and just a simply grey tee and a red lip finished off the look. My converse did start getting a little bit dirty after this trip, but hey they are made by me and that’s all the fun:)
