Fashion News- Hot Tropics at Edgars

Happy Saturday guys! It’s still rainy in Jozi, but lots of rain only means one thing- summer is almost here! With December fast approaching most of us have planned our holidays and are looking forward to a getaway. A question I get asked a lot is what to pack for a holiday, and today I have your answer. There is a hot trend that’s popping up everywhere in the shops and it’s something that you should be investing in- the tropical print!
Recently I visited Edgars and some Edgars owned brands to have a look at their tropical print items and share my finds with you. My favourite stop was River Island, which opened in South Africa recently and as of December will be available in select Edgars stores! Plus you can use your Edgars store account to shop there! I get so naughty with my account sometimes, but River Island has such gorgeous things, I can’t resist!
The tropical print can be seen in many forms- the traditional palm leaves, the colourful and monochrome frangipani prints, and my recent favourite- the pineapple print. I think there is a bit of misconception around the tropical print sometimes- guys tropical doesn’t mean you have to look like you just got of a Hawaii beach. Tropical print comes through in many forms and colours, and I am here to help you figure out how to incorporate it into your wardrobe, so you get just the right amount of it.
A touch of tropics

If you like the tropical print but are not too comfortable with it yet, add one piece of the print to your outfit and then keep everything else simple. Here I added this pretty palm-print skirt and paired it with a graphic tee and some bright heels. It’s just a little touch of tropics to make you stand out, but not enough to get you overwhelmed.

If you are a bit shy about wearing the tropical print, incorporate it into your accessories. These shoes are super cute and fashion forward with their shape, and have a light tropical print all over. I wore this with the lace yellow dress to compliment the bright hue of the shoes, and this outfit is just begging to be taken out for a night on the town!

All out tropics

If you are like me, and love print on print, go all out with your tropics! This dress has a graphic tropical print all over and I added the shoes as well for it to be all-out tropical. I know this might not be for everyone, and wearing head-to-toe print is for the brave hearted. But why not step out of your shell this December and give it a try?
Speaking of December holidays, another great way to play with the tropical print is adding some pool-side glam into your wardrobe. This tropical bikini is hot, hot, hot!

And if you like to cover up a bit, this over-sized beach shirt with frangipanis on it will look great paired with some fab eyewear and a hat.

If you are a bit vary of colour AND print, try a couple of these monochrome pieces from Kelso and Free2BU. Either way you should definitely be investing in something tropical this season and looking hot while doing it!
