Last week I was invited to attend the launch of yet another awesome brand that has recently hit the South African shores- The Lucky Brand Jeans. Jeans are a big part of anyone’s wardrobe. It is an item that everyone has and reaches for when in doubt. One can spend ages looking for the perfect pair and the perfect fit. I can count the number of jeans I have on two hands. I am very fussy (as I’m sure most of you are) when it comes to jeans: they have to fit me perfectly, cover my bad bits and accentuate my good parts. Sounds like one hell of a job for a pair of jeans to do right?
The Lucky Brand originated in 1990(the coolest year ever because that’s when I was born) in the sunny state of Los Angeles. The brand is all about getting lucky in finding your perfect fit. You can find your pair by shopping either the “Leg” or the “Shape” of the jeans. There are six “Legs” to choose from: The Super Skinny, The Skinny, The Straight, The Bootcut, The Boyfriend and The Flare. If you would rather shop by “Shape” you can choose from The Curvy, The Slightly Curvy, The Slim, The Plus-Size and The Straight. So whatever you are looking for in your pair of denims, you will find it at The Lucky Brand store.
The brand embodies what I like to think of as “Cali Cool”: a much laid back, yet a very stylish look. Besides the denims, you will find everything that you need to pair the jeans with inside the store: pretty tops, striking jewellery and flowy scarves. I took a quick peep into the guys section and that looked just as nice as well. In fact, I would love to see Steve in this grey cardigan and a pair of the 221 Original Straight Jeans.
Tammy and I tried on a bunch of different jeans until we each found our perfect fit. I am torn between the Sofia Skinny (a pair of tight-fitting, dark-wash jeans) and the Sienna Tomboy (the baggy boyfriend jeans). The jeans were so comfortable that I even noted to Tammy that I could go to the gym in the Sofia’s. As I am a frequent flyer, I am always aware of the importance of the jeans being comfortable. The denim was so soft and comfortable; I didn’t want to take it off!

After looking around the store and getting our personalized fittings, we were treated to the awesomeness that is The Parlotones. They were all wearing head to toe Lucky Brand on the night, and how handsome did they all look (don’t tell Steve ;)). I am not a big fan of rock music, but I through enjoyed their performance and even found myself knowing all the lyrics to a few of their songs(who knew?).

Lucky Brand is now available at select Edgars stores and has their stand-alone store at Eastgate Mall. The jeans retail for an average of R1300, and although it may seem like a lot, it is pair of denims that I definitely think is worth investing in. Visit their store and who knows, you might just get lucky and find your perfect jeans! 😉
