Happy Friday guys! The first week of January is officially done and dusted, and there is only like 50 more weeks to go in this year 😉 To continue my post about favourites of 2015, today I am talking about skincare. Being a beauty blogger, a lot of skincare comes across my beauty desk, and while I try out a lot of serums, moisturizers and face washes, only about 5-10% of them actually impress me. This is my pick of the best of the best of this year.
PS You might notice that there isn’t a moisturizer listed in here, and that’s because my favourite moisturizer for 2015, was the same one as I had in 2014! The Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Cream gives me life, and I follow it up with the Kiehl’s Hydro Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum. No matter what else I try (I usually change to a richer moisturizer in the winter), I always go back to those 2, and I didn’t feel like it was necessary to include the same products in this post. Bottom line- Kiehl’s skincare is the bomb.
Elizabeth Arden SuperStart Skin Booster
I mentioned this product here, and I am just about finished with my first bottle of it! I really enjoyed this product, even though at first I didn’t think there was a need for a “pre-moisturizer” at all. I like its scent and the fact that it is super light and goes on easily onto the skin. The benefit of it is that it “primes” you skin for the moisturizer/serum/whatever you choose to use, and I can honestly see the difference to the way my moisturizer absorbs if I have the SuperStart on beforehand. A really lovely product that I recommend investing in for 2016.
Vichy Skincare was another favourite this year, and these 2 products especially stood out for me. I’ve mentioned a few times before that I have a skin condition called milia, which is little white bumps on my cheeks and skin. It’s not hugely noticeable unless you sit close to me (and decide to inspect my face) but it’s something that has always bothered me. When I asked a beautician, she recommended a good daily scrub to minimize the appearance of the bumps, and the Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Cleanser, Scrub and Mask has been a lifesaver. I’ve just run out of it, and I am a little devastated because this was the only product that has ever helped me. It contains Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid and micro-exfoliating LHA to target imperfections and refine texture, which is why it helped me with the bumps so much. It is very soft and not at all hard on your skin, because the worry with daily scrubs is that it can over stimulate your skin. I recommend this to anyone who wants a clean polished skin or also had the milia issue.
Another product that I have spoken a few times on the blog about is the Vichy Eau Thermale Water. I’m not going to go into detail again over how the product works (check out more here) but I reach for it over and over and run out of them on a 3-month basis. Don’t underestimate this product because it is really great. Personally I use it as a toner, and during this heat wave it has been a life saver! Pop it in the fridge and refresh your face in the evenings after your bath!
A product that has been on everyone’s lips, because it is just that good is the Garnier Micellar Water. I tried to hate it, I tried, but it is amazing and there is no denial about it. It feels like water, it smells like water, yet it gets your make-up off in one go and doesn’t leave that “sticky” feeling that make-up wipes do. It has an even better price tag, and I am onto my second bottle of the year already!
Last product to wrap things up, is the Lancôme Genifique Light Pearl Eye Illuminator. I mentioned it in my September favourites, and in the past 3 months, my feelings about it haven’t changed, in fact I have only fallen more in love with this product. My favourite part about it is the pearl shaped applicator, because when my eyes are still all puffy in the morning, that cooling touch of the pearl is so soothing and comforting. It’s great in the morning after a hectic night, when you still have to go to work and need to look half decent. It will instantly brighten your eyes and therefore your face, because eyes are the windows to the soul! 🙂
Have you tired any of these before? What is your pick for best skincare for 2015?
