My love for the Kiehl’s brand is well known on the blog, but there is one thing that I always felt that the brand was missing- face masques! I know that they have the Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque, which is apparently pretty good (I’ve never tried it before), but since pores have never really been a big issue for me, I always gave it a skip. I love the face masque vibes on a Sunday afternoon, when you want to rejuvenate your skin after a hectic week, and now Kiehl’s has just added 2 new face masques to its range- the Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque and the Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque.
Lets start with my favorite of the 2, and the one product that’s really been an obsession for me the past month- The Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. I first tried it in January when my mom was visiting, and we had a little pamper session together, trying out both masks. It’s a weekend thing now that when my friends come over I whip out this baby and we all have a little masque session, because anyone that tried it loves it (check out Chicara post on the masques here)! Turmeric has so many great benefits for the skin, from helping reduce the scars and stretchmark appearance, to anti aging, to brightening the skin. In some countries (as my friend who is getting married in August tells me), they make a turmeric scrub to rub the bride with the day before the wedding so her skin is glowing for the big day, so really this amazing ingredient does a whole lot more than just make a curry taste delicious!
Turmeric is one of the main ingredients in this face masque, and with all its great qualities it really brightens and rejuvenates the skin. The second main ingredients are the cranberry seeds, which gently exfoliate and scrub the skin. The mask applies very smoothly onto the skin, and I just do it with my hands, however you can use a flat foundation brush to make the application easier. It dries within 20 minutes, going clay-like on your skin and it really tightens quite hard. You rinse it off with warm water, and I must say, the cranberry seeds tend to get stuck onto my face, so that’s where I use the brush to lightly brush them off. You can see the effect of the mask immediately, as your skin looks brighter and healthier from the first use. I’ve heard of beauty editors who use it almost daily before work to have that glow, so this really is an amazing product worth investing it.
PS Don’t get scared with how I look with it on 🙂
The second mask is the Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque.
This mask defends against the impurities and replenishes your skin, because pollution is something that all of our skins suffer with daily. Once again this masque is packed with amazing natural ingredients, and cilantro (AKA coriander) is another magic little herb. It’s detoxifying, helps with dryness and clearing up the skin. Of course Orange is packed with Vitamin C, and it helps with shrinking the appearance of open pores as well as the fact that it’s incredibly refreshing for you skin. This masque is actually quite light out of the tub, and it applies in a thin see-through layer. Its not that I did not like this mask, its just that I am really obsessed with The Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, as that one helps with my skin concerns. Also, when you wash this mask off you can taste the sweetness of the orange on your lips!:) My mom joked that it tastes so delicious, she wants to eat it ha-ha!:)
To summarize, if your skin concern is that you would like to protect it from pollution and remove impurities for a healthier looking skin, then Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque is your baby. If you would like a more radiant looking skin with a light exfoliation, then get the Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. Naturally, I would just buy both;) The face masques are available in store this month and retail for R465 each (for a big 75 ml tub). I recommend using them twice a week for a full effect 🙂
