It’s been a manic week for me, for one simple reason- Urban Decay! This week we held 2 private media dinners (one in Cape Town, one in Joburg) to welcome this spectacular brand into the country. The official launch will be in the middle of May(don’t ask me the exact date, because even I don’t know that yet;) and its super exciting that the first Urban Decay store in Africa, will also be a stand alone store! In partnership with Stuttafords, the first store will open in Sandton, closely followed by the opening of the “store in store” at Foschini Eastagte that will open in July. Let me tell you, I have seen the layouts of both stores and it’s going to be AMAZING!!
Also a little note about the pricing– I know you are dying to know! As you might have heard, the palettes will go for R850 each (which is still cheaper than overseas) and yes we will be getting the ENTIRE catalogue. Every shade, every product, in line with international launches. The Mono Shadows will go for R225 each(except for Moondust), the 24/7 Glide On Eyeliners for R215, and the Eye Shadow Priming Potion will range from R280-R320(more expensive for the anti-aging one). Aren’t you excited?
We held the dinner at Workshop 55 in Joburg, and Outrage of Modesty in Cape Town. Both venues were picked because they are funky, new and have that edge! For the Joburg dinner I went back and forth about what I’m going to wear for ages, but then I based my choice of dress on Urban Decays signature tagline- Beauty with an Edge. The brand is Feminine, Dangerous and Fun! The beautiful lace on the dress was the feminine bit- lace is always a soft touch, and I loved the neckline. The Dangerous part was my hair- on the night I had a funky plait done, which was one crazy hairstyle(I don’t have a proper pic because I was so busy so I only have the phone pictures) and the fun part, is well me!:)
I loved this dress, and although I dressed it down for the actual evening I still think that the dress itself is very much Urban Decay. It’s been a pleasure working on such a fun and diverse brand and I can’t wait to do more! Again I didn’t have my camera or the time to take photos of the night, but I’ve grabbed what our guests put out there and the evenings were incredible.
Purple décor ruled the room with the flowers, our custom made carpets and banners, with girly touches of product all around the room. The food at both dinners was amazing, and I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten back from Cape Town 2 kgs heavier 😉 This was just a taste of what Urban Decay South Africa is going to look like, so buckle up and join the purple revolution!
PS- What’s the point of working on the brand if you cant share the love? 😉 Tomorrow morning an exciting competition is going up on the blog, so get ready!
