One of the biggest downfalls of starting your job towards the end of the year, is the lack of leave! I was always used to getting my 3 months varsity breaks over the summer(oh, the good old days) and now I am working during the Christmas week! I managed to luckily get some leave from the 25th, but boy am I feeling the end-of-year burn out and I have barely been working a month! It was however a big year for me in all aspects(I will recap it towards the end of next week) so I cant wait for the end of this week to come already! For now I am still at work, and if you are too, I feel ya girlfriend!
My friend Chicara suggested that next year I do a bit of a “work-wear” diary on the blog and show what I wear to work, because you best believe I wont be letting my fashion game down even thought I have stepped into the office. This is one of my favorite outfits to wear during these hot summer days- a flowy shirt-dress. It is so light and not-at-all restricting so it’s basically the minimum clothing that you could wear to the office and still look good. I picked up this shirt-dress at Forever 21 on my Christmas Wishlist shopping spree recently and I have been wearing it non-stop! It also works really well for an afternoon braai paired with some pretty sandals so it’s a win-win(plus it was R349 which is a steal).
My first encounter with Forever 21 happened 5 years ago, when I begged Steve to get me clothes from the store in New York. I have read about it in tones of overseas magazines so when Steve’s trip to the USA came up, the first thing I handed him was my Forever 21 wish list. The poor guy had to search through their huge New York store to get me the beach dress and the T-shirt that I wanted, and I still have them to this day! Fast-forward to now and Forever 21 send me on a Christmas shopping spree with them- talk about dreams coming true!
Another downfall of it being December, is that my trusty photographer Keagan is on holiday, which means Steve, has been back on photographer duty. The time I have to take photos is now limited due to work, and I don’t always get to have my camera around, so that where my Huawei Mate S phone comes in. With its professional camera mode it takes amazing pictures when I am on the go and I can post them online straight away. You can adjust your Shutter-Speed and your ISO so you can control your light a lot better, and seeing as by the time I get home its starting to get dark outside, this has been a lifesaver!
We shot these other 2 looks for my social media using the phone and I think they came out pretty great. These were the other items on my Forever 21 wish list- the sports luxe dress that I paired with my Converse for a relaxed Saturday look.
And this boho-inspired red fringed dress and boots that I wore over this weekend.
The phone is great with shortcuts and its Knuckle Sense technology, so Steve has learned his away around it pretty well so we get my outfits shot nice and quick while we have time and light.
And then you get shots that come out even better on the phone than on the camera like this shot of the necklace(also from Forever 21!). Having a portable pro-camera in my pocket has been a lifesaver, and next year it will only help me out even more! I will tell you guys a little bit more about my job and what exactly I’m doing but for now let me just say that there will be a lot of exciting things to come!:)
Check out the Forever 21 store at Nelson Mandela Square for all of the items that I picked out with my Christmas whilst and tell me your favorite one!:)
