Back in May I attended a beautiful MAC Trend Forecast workshop in Cape Town, which took us through all of the upcoming make-up trends for the next season. To this day, MAC is one of my favorite make-up brands, and the love that I have for this brand is unconditional. Even when I wasn’t working with them through my blog, I still went out and bought lipsticks, blushes and whatever my heart wanted, because I NEED MAC in my life all the time. And now getting to work with this brand, and to get to try out new products and collections is fantastic. One of these products is the MAC Trend Forecast Spring 15 Lip And Cheek Palette, which I will tell you about here today.
This was my first time trying out something that can be worn both on your cheeks and lips, and to be honest lets just stick to the lips today, because I am not a fan of crème blushes. These colors are beautiful and no doubt they would look gorgeous on your cheeks, but I am not a make-up pro yet, so I wouldn’t know how to apply that on my cheeks without it being sticky. The Lip and Cheek Palette consist of 6 colors summer-y colors. From left to right its- Seasonally Peach (a very pretty nude), Spring Sensation (a Barbie like pink, very similar to Saint Germain), Must Have Mellon (a soft coral), Go Guava (a very dusty pink), Bang On Red (an orange and red hybrid) and One To Watch (a light but punchy purple).
I’ll take you through every shade and what it looks like on, and when it gets closer to spring on our side of the world, I’ll also share the makeup trends with you. All of the shades are very creamy, it’s sort of like a hybrid between a lipstick and a lip-gloss. The first 2 shades are very similar, and in total 4 of the shades in the palette are pastel colors. I prefer the more vibrant ones (naturally), but the more subtle colors are buildable, and the bonus points for me is that you can apply them without a lip brush. Of course using a lip brush makes the application more precise and neat, but when I am in a rush I usually tend to apply Spring Sensation and Go Guava just with my fingers. Lets get into the colors.
Seasonally Peach
Contrarily to what the name suggests, this is not a peachy shade. This is a very nude color, that looks very, very subtle on (my skin tone isn’t too light, and I struggled to get it to show up). Its an every-day kind of color, I would compare it to Myth from the permanent lippie collection (however it is still a little too muted for me).
Spring Sensation
The color looks a lot brighten in the pan that on the lips but its still very pretty. It’s on the very pale pink side, and creamy like Saint Germain, but not as bright.
Must Have Mellon
More of a coral shade, but still quite subtle. I think of this as more on the peachy side than the first shade. This one is quite buildable too, so you can make it a bit brighter if you like.
Go Guava
This is my kind of a nude shade, because it is still soft but has enough color so I don’t look sick. It has a dusty pink tone to it, very pretty!
Bang On Red
Now this is what I am talking about- bright and loud! This looks even more gorgeous on the lips than in the pan. It’s a bit more on the orange side of things and I think it’s going to be a super hot shade for summer. Just picture this shade, cocktails and hot summer nights!
One To Watch
My favorite color from the palette, and gosh it is even more gorgeous in person! This shade is if Heroine and Rebel had a baby- it’s a deep purple with creamy tones. Simply gorgeous plus it stains your lips so you will have it on for hours and hours!
What do you think of this palette? Will you be purchasing it(it should be available soon at the MAC stand alone stores and online and it goes for R695)?
