The South African Style Awards celebrated their 19th birthday recently at the glamorous Hyde Park Hotel, and we were all there to help party it up with this year’s winners. The Style Awards honour the years best dressed people, from the business woman down to the designer. This year’s winners included the amazing Prince of Prints Chu Suwannapha and the beautiful Roxy Burger. Let’s talk about each category and the people that won it and more importantly what they wore on the night!
Roxy Burger – Most Stylish Performing Artist – TV
The winner for this category’s winner was a no-brainer seeing as not only does Roxy(or Roxanne as she wants to be known now) always look amazing and has a funky sense of style, she even launched an online shop with her bestie(who also happens to be her stylist) to show her passion for fashion. Roxy looked dazzling on the night in a heavily beaded jumpsuit (I told you guys, jumpsuits are hot!) and I look forward to seeing more from this stylish lady.
Most Innovative Style–Chu Suwannapha
I am so happy that Chu won this category, because seeing him at fashion events all the time, I always admired what he is wearing. Sure it’s not something I would wear- one print at a time is all that I can take, but Chu takes 2,3,4 different prints and put them together like an artist, and now thats worth honouring. He didn’t disappoint with his style on the night, and wore this printed suit.
Most Stylish Couple- Zuraida Jardine and Josh Lindberg
Most Stylish Performing Artist in Music- Mafikizolo – Theo Kgosinkwe & Nhlanhla Nciza
Most Stylish Model –Joelle Kayembe
Joelle is really the model of the moment, she is gorgeous and smart. Joelle wore a dress designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee as an inspiration from one of the YSL couture palettes(more on that next week), and it fit her like a glove. For me this is my favourite look of the night. Stunning
Most Stylish Newcomers-Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Nandi Mngoma
It’s no secret that 2014 has absolutely been Jonathans year, from winning the Cosmos Sexiest Male to taking the trophy on Strictly Come Dancing, Jonathan fit this category like a glove. He didn’t dissapoint on the night either, looking all kinds of sexy in all black. Grr Grr
Nandi has recently been announced as the face of Legits new line, and I really think she has a bright future ahead of her. However I was a bit underwhelmed with her look on the night- come on girl you just won an SA Style Award. I would have loved to see something more risky and fashion-forward from her. Next year maybe?
Most Stylish Performing Artist in Film – Jay Anstey
Most Stylish Business Personality – Natasha Sideris
The lady behind all of our favourite lunch spot looked rather debonair on the night, and its nice to put a name behind such a huge restaurant like Tashas.
Two winners were not able to attend on the night- Melinda Bam who won Most Stylish Media Personality and of course the amazing Thuli Madonsela who won Most Stylish SA Icon.
My fashion favourites Jerri, Krishen and Alan with Vicky Crease
Lalla looking all kinds of hot in this futuristic dress from MWEB Wi-Fi that changes colours. Now if they could only get Wi-Fi to my house 😉
My girl ChianoSky slaying it in Joel Jansen Van Vuuren
And lucky Kevin who got to have 3 ladies on him arm that night!
We had a lot of fun dancing and fashion-ing(is that a word yet) the night away, and next week I will be sharing the gorgeous designer dresses that were designed especially for the Style Awards, each dress taking an inspiration from a YSL Couture palette. And you get a chance to win one of those palettes in my 12 days of giveaways! Who’s excited now?
