Where To Stay in Dubai – Madinat Jumeirah

My last post about Dubai(for now ;)) is about the hotel at which we spent our 2 last nights in- the beautiful Madinat Jumeirah. The hotel is the epitome of a luxurious Arabian resort, and you feel that the moment you step onto the property. There are 4 different hotels on the property(with the fifth one being build right now)- Al Qasr(at which we stayed),Mina A’Salam,Dar Ar Masyaf and Malakiya Villas. The property of Madinat Jumeirah is massive and it includes its own private beach! You have to get around the different parts of Madinat Jumeirah using little boats(called abras), and that is just a piece of the fun that we got to have while staying there. Al Qasr means “The Palace” and it was in fact modeled after the Sheikh’s summer residence. Its architecture…

Fashion Forward Dubai Season 5

Part of our Dubai trip was attending Season 5 of Fashion Forward. What is Fashion Forward you may ask? Well it's basically like our fashion week, where established and up-and-coming designers of the UAE get to showcase their latest collections.I was really excited to experience it, because it is always fascinating to see how fashion week runs in a different country. Also seeing the street style is a highlight for me, especially in the country like UAE! Today I wanted to share a little bit of what I saw trending from the shows and what I think will be big trends this upcoming and next winter! PS I teamed up with Sunglass Hut for some street style posts and a review of my 3 favorite shows. Check out all the links here. Now let's…

Where To Stay in Dubai – Fairmont Dubai

[caption id="attachment_2390" align="aligncenter" width="683"] Dress from Forever New[/caption]   Our first hotel for the trip was the Fairmount Dubai. Fairmount is the series of hotels all over the globe, and while I have heard of it, I haven’t stayed at any prior to this visit. I was incredibly impressed with this stunning hotel, its service, restaurants and location. I was also treated like royalty all the way, and if I had to go back to Dubai, this would be the hotel that I would go back to.It is located in Downtown Dubai on one of the main roads, called Sheikh Zayed Road, so you are close by to the World Trade Centre and the Dubai Mall. Everything runs super smoothly at the Fairmount Dubai, from the check-in which took all of 5 minutes to…

Where To Eat In Dubai

I aint a food blogger, but boy do I love food. A couple of times I have actually thought about adding a food section to the blog, because I am always trying out new restaurants and new cuisines but never get to write about them. This is sort of my first “food” post, and I ate so much delicious food while in Dubai that I was too afraid to step on the scale to even weigh my luggage. Dubai has some amazing restaurants and no matter what kind of food you are looking for, you will find it in Dubai- from the traditional Arabic meals, to modern cuisine to good old South African boerie roll, Dubai has it all! For some New York City Seafood Cuisine Catch is the latest addition to the Fairmont…

Outfit Of The Day- Carrie Bradshaw Souk Moments

I would love to tell you that this outfit just “accidentally” happened, but the truth is, I planned it all along. I have been the hugest fan of Carrie Bradshaw and when in the second movie she visited the souk , that outfit was everything for me.So when I saw a souk visit on my Dubai itinerary I was like, dam gurl you gotta go all Carrie Bradshaw on this souk! So this outfit was heavily inspired by my darling Carrie, and yes we actually shot it at the Souk Madinat! I loved how Carrie had the black “Jadore Dior” shirt paired with a massive purple and grey skirt and some high heels. My answer to that was my “Chanel Is My Drug” t-shirt with a big statement necklace, a purple midi skirt, and…

Things To Do In Dubai – Desert Safari

When DTCM South Africa asked me what I would like to do while in Dubai, one of the things at the top of my list was going on a Desert Safari. Carrie Bradshaw made it look so glam and I had this image in my mind of me riding a camel in a long dress along the desert. What I got was a completely different experience but it was so much more awesome! The Dessert Safari is all about riding those dunes in a massive Land Cruiser, dinning in an Arabian style-tent and experiencing the Middle East the way it was meant to be experienced. After first arriving in the desert and deflating our tyres  we got to see a falcon show, presented by none other than a home-grown South African and his little…
