I would love to tell you that this outfit just “accidentally” happened, but the truth is, I planned it all along. I have been the hugest fan of Carrie Bradshaw and when in the second movie she visited the souk , that outfit was everything for me.So when I saw a souk visit on my Dubai itinerary I was like, dam gurl you gotta go all Carrie Bradshaw on this souk! So this outfit was heavily inspired by my darling Carrie, and yes we actually shot it at the Souk Madinat!
I loved how Carrie had the black “Jadore Dior” shirt paired with a massive purple and grey skirt and some high heels. My answer to that was my “Chanel Is My Drug” t-shirt with a big statement necklace, a purple midi skirt, and my Louboutins. My pink Anni King clutch fitted in perfectly with the look, and off I went to shop at the souk! The actual souk in the market is a little bit different to Souk Madinat. Souk Madinat is more high-end shopping, with designer shops and souvenirs in it. The spice and textile souks in the city, are the proper Arabian souks you expect. You can bargain away there and buy the most beautiful fabrics and spices. My buys at the souk were very Carrie- I bought the cutest pair of shoes, some chocolate dates and presents for my family and friends.
Luckily I didn’t loose my passport, our host Tyashnee from DTCM South Africa took care of that for me, when on the morning of the souk she couldn’t find her passport 😉 We all had a bit of Carrie Bradshaw moment that day 😉
