To date, I cannot find a lipstick that is better than MAC in terms of a vivid colour. I don’t wear bright colours to varsity, since I tend to stick with neutral hues, but for an event or a night out, I love to turn it up. The MAC Amplified Girl About Town Lipstick is fast becoming my favourite shade for the summer. It’s bright and eye-catching, but not as hectically as Candy Yum Yum (which I love as well).

The Colour: A very juicy fuchsia shade. It is the kind of colour that you want to pair with big eyelashes and light blush, put on a little black dress and go for a Cosmo with the girls with.
The Longevity: As with all MAC lipsticks, amazing. It actually takes a lot of effort to take this lipstick off.

The Texture: It is Amplified which means it is quite creamy and highly pigmented. It goes on so nice and smoothly onto your lips giving them that “juicy” look. It is not necessary to wear a Lipglass over it (although I do believe there is a matching Lipglass as well as a nail polish in the shade) because the lipstick itself already gives a very good shine.

Swatched without flash.
The only negative (although hardly) that I have to say, is that you have to be very careful in applying it. Mess it up even a little, and you will have a pink smudge all over you. I use a MAC lip brush to apply it (and I hardly every use one) because you want it to look as evenly as possible, because trust me, with this shade on your lips- people will notice.

The Price: The lipstick retails for R185 (roughly 18$) and is available at all MAC counters, although I did have to wait for mine for a while, due to it being a popular shade. Recently MAC has also launched its new online store so you can shop this hot shade from the comfort of your home. Visit the MACOnline Store here.
The Bottom Line: Get this shade if you love big, bright colours for summer. And don’t let it sit at home, because like the name of the shade suggest, you got to be A Girl About Town and take this hot lipstick everywhere with you!
