Currently- 2019

As far as 2019 goes, I’ve been pretty MIA on the blog, because to say that 2019 started off with a cracker, is to not say anything. The last 2 months have been a roller-coaster ride of emotions that have kept me pretty busy, so I haven’t had a chance to focus on the blog at all. I’m going to be using March to catch up on here with some great content, and plan ahead for the next 2 months, because I know that from April onward it will get hectic again! So, let me explain everything that has happened in my life in the last 2 months and why it has been such a busy (and incredible) time!

2019 started off with a bang at the office, with me returning on the 7th of January to a mountain of work! I went on some training for my role, and we were having a couple of events happening at the same time that kept me so busy in the first 2 weeks, plus my car broke down on Christmas Eve, so I was always relying on lifts to get to and from work. It meant early mornings (as I was catching a ride with a colleague) and late nights while I waited for Steve to finish work. I was looking forward to a break in Cape Town after the hectic start to the year, and Steve and I flew down to the Mother City on the 19th of January.

I had a suspicion that something was coming, because Steve booked a really nice hotel, rented a nice car and wouldn’t tell me what we were doing on the weekend (plus we have been speaking about this for the last 6 months, so I knew it was coming eventually ;)). On the 19th of January we got engaged at Kirstenbosch Gardens, and I can only describe it as one of the best days of my life! I’ll share more pictures and a bit more of the story when I post my engagement photos here next week, so stay tuned!

After our engagement I spend a week working in Cape Town and arrived back just in time to co-host my friend’s baby shower. The following week Steve’s brother was getting married, so we were off to Dullstrom for a long weekend, but before that I went for a very important interview. I knew from the middle of last year, that it was almost time to grow out of my first job, and my first baby, Urban Decay. I’ve had the most amazing time launching and running this amazing brand in the last 3 years, but something inside me was telling me that it was time to move on. Of course I also know that you can’t just sit around, and wait for things to come to you, so I put the wheels into motion for my next career move.

I applied for what can only be described as my dream job, early on in 2019, and I was very pleasantly surprised when I got the news that I did in fact get it! On the 1st of April I will be leaving my position as Brand Manager of Urban Decay to move onto a role for one of the biggest make-up brands in the world! How cool is that? I am super excited, and I will reveal more as the weeks go on, and for now I am just trying to enjoy my last month on Urban Decay.

Between the 2 big changes of 2019, I also experienced a lot of irritating little bits that kept me busy, and away from my blog. My car went through 5 different issues in the last 2 months, starting with a broken gearbox and ending with a broken steering wheel. My sewage decided to act up twice, I managed to get a nasty bug, and the fishpond at my parent’s house broke once again. However I tried to focus on all of the positives like Sarah baby shower, Steve’s brother wedding, our Luxury conference on the Blue Train and Urban Decay Naked Reloaded event. I’ve been so incredibly busy in the last 2 months, but boy how thankful I am for all of the blessings that I have been gifted this year already!

I’m trying to catch a bit of a breather in March before April gets wild again with my new position, and I plan on moving into my own little flat for the next year. I’ve planned a couple of travel posts including Beach Vacations for Every Budget and My European Bucket List, some beauty posts on my favorite fragrances and my Top 5 Kiehl’s products, some outfit inspirations for autumn, and sharing my engagement pics as well as wedding planning updates. Please help me out and tell me what else you want to see on the blog, so I can work on it this month!
