Happy Monday guys and welcome back! I am back after my leave of absence following my trip to Spain and then a very long week at work! Travelling has been the most amazing thing for me this year, but I have been struggling to keep up with working, travelling and blogging! We got back from our trip to Spain last week Monday, and I can honestly say that Spain exceeded all of my expectations! We mainly stayed in Barcelona but we took an overnight trip to Madrid as well, to explore the capital a little bit. I want to start my little Spanish week on the blog by sharing this outfit with you guys- one of my most favorite to date!
The reason as to why we decided to travel to Spain still isn’t too clear to me- apparently I came up with the decision based on my moms advise. She said that Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities that she’s ever seen (and she’s travelled the whole of Europe) and my mind was made up. Convincing my two other companions wasn’t too hard (we took a girls trip!) as they were just as excited to see Spain. Since we were flying all the way to Barcelona already we figured that we take a train one day and spend the night in Madrid- after all it is the capital, and I always feel like the capital of the country should be explored. I will have a list of my Top 5 reasons to visit Madrid up on the blog tomorrow, and one of them is this beautiful place where I took these outfit photos- Palacio De Cristal (The Crystal Palace).
This magnificent structure is made almost entirely of glass in an iron framework set on a brick base, which is decorated in ceramics. Its located in the center of the Buen Retiro Park, which is a stunning feature just on its own. Cassidy really wanted to see the palace, and I could see why! It’s such an amazing piece of architecture, which now houses different art exhibitions. Its stunning from the outside and the inside, and it overlooks a beautiful lake. Fun fact- the palace was originally designed to be re-erected on another site (imagine that, a palace that you could move around!) but ended up staying right where it belongs- right in the center of Retiro Park.
When I knew that we were going to visit The Crystal Palace, I immediately pictured this dress there. I spotted this beautiful Ted Baker creation back in August when they officially opened their first stand-alone store in Africa, and I was in love! The soft blue hue, the beautiful and intricate design and well, the pockets on the dress drew me to it, so it made the long journey from South Africa to Madrid with me, just so it can get captured in the palace. Looking at these pictures I say it was totally worth it, and I felt like a bit of a princess whirling around Palacio De Cristal in my beautiful dress. They let us take pictures inside, but I also had to capture the beauty of its outside design. Since autumn is setting in in Europe you can spot some leaves on the ground, which to me just add beauty to these photos.
What do you guys think of the magnificent Palacio De Cristal? Isn’t it simply gorgeous?
