I wish I could tell you that I blinked and it’s almost spring, but it’s been a few very long months in lockdown and winter for us in South Africa. They’ve been hard, but of course many people feel the same way that I do. When I start to smell jasmine in my garden I know that spring is on the way and my first reaction is to start taking out my summer dresses, but then I go outside and the wind knocks me over! Oh the crazy August winds make dressing so hard- you are over wearing jerseys and pants by now but can’t wear dresses and shorts yet, so what to do wear while the weather is still busy transitioning?
This is one of my favorite outfits for the transitional seasons and one I wear it over and over again in a sense. I have been obsessed with midi skirts for ages, but it’s not always easy to wear them without looking like a French school teacher (if you know what I mean, no offence to them ;)). I love grabbing a midi skirt of any print and pairing it with some nice flat shoes and a leather jacket. You have to wear a skirt like this with sneakers or really nice kicks, because if you wear pumps or ballet flats, your look will start to venture off on the school teacher side again. Superbalist has a really nice selection of midi skirts so check it out here. However a nice pair of Nikes or even a simple Superga sneaker will elevate any midi skirt from simple to street style.
I know you think you’ve seen this jacket lots of times on my blog already but actually you’re wrong. I got it in June from Forever New, but yes it is the same style that I’ve been wearing for the last 3 years. I just love this fit so much and my last jacket was getting worn out as it has traveled with me through the world, and has seen many, many outings. It was time for a new one, but I just loved it so much that I didn’t want to go looking for anything else. Girls, when you find your perfect black leather jacket, stick with it! They still have this on Forever New, and I suppose they always will. It’s a classic piece that never goes out of style. Its called the Lola Biker Jacket and you can get it over here.
To wrap up my post, in conclusion I recommended you wear this for a transitional weather outfit: midi skirt, cool kicks, leather jacket and easy T-Shirt.
