I haven’t posted about beauty things in a while, and it’s not for the lack of me using and trying new beauty products! I’ve just had so much other content that I’ve let the beauty side of things slip, but today I’m back with a beauty post and I wanted to share 6 Beauty Bits that I’m currently loving. I shot this post back in May, and since then I have fallen even more in love with these items! They are such good picks and lovely finds, and I hope that you discover something new and interesting in this post today.
Lancôme “Skin Feels Good”– R495 available over here.
I have absolutely loved this oil-free skin tint that was especially made for the woman who wants radiant, even looking skin with ease. Skin Feels Good provides a sheer tint of colour that allows your skin to shine through for a healthy glow. It is enriched with skin-loving ingredients such as hyaluronic acid to lock-in moisture and plump, morning seed extract to revitalize and protect against free radicals and SPF 23 protection. It is incredibly light (almost like a BB cream) but you can build up the coverage. On the days when my skin is acting well, I just use this with a little bit of bronzer and mascara. It smells divine and its lightweight texture has me addicted! It is pricey, but it is Lancôme, and as always, I find their quality to be superb, especially when it comes to foundation/face products, so I will definitely be re-purchasing this baby.
Giorgio Armani Beauty “Power Fabric” Foundation
On the days when my skin is acting out and I need to hide some things, I have been reaching for this “Power Fabric” wonder from Giorgio Armani that I bought in London in March. Power Fabric combines full coverage with an ultra-light formula. Upon application, the texture melts into the skin, effectively blurring imperfections with an incredibly lightweight matte veil that feels like you are not wearing make-up at all, but still managing to cover the blemishes. For a full coverage foundation, it is very easy to blend, but I do find that I need at least three pumps out of it to cover my whole face. It comes in 20 shades, I am shade 4, and I will definitely be re-purchasing it when I travel again in a couple of months. I’ve just had such a great experience with Giorgio Armani foundation (I swear by Maestro Glow in the summer time), and Power Fabric is easily my favourite new foundation.
Crabtree&Evelyn “Home Comforts” Candle- R800 available over here
Another one of my latest obsessions is candles, I know I am a little late on the bandwagon, but I’m here! Since taking this picture of the candle, I have burnt it down to half in a month- sad times! This smells DIVINE, and this is coming from someone who was never a fan of candles, but this range has me converted. The drenched wisteria petals perfume a room and luscious watery green scents freshens the air while quince, lemon and star anise add a beautiful burst of cleansing zest. It is magical I tell you!
This scent comes from Crabtree and Evelyn’s latest home range called “Modern British Home” and the collection consists of eight candles and eight diffusers, all inspired by a different room in the house. Select from welcoming crushed berry notes for a hallway; fresh herbal infused essences to cleanse and uplift the air in your kitchen; ocean breeze scents to restore the senses in your bathroom; exotic spice-filled aromas to create a meditative ambience in a relaxation zone; drenched floral notes that invite gathered friends to relax in a living room; subtly balanced feminine and masculine essences for a bedroom; sweetly cleansing florals for a guest room and deeply creative leather accords for work or study spaces. I LOVE this range, and while in the past I would have thought that paying R800 for a candle is very steep, I will be visiting the Design Quarter Store to buy myself the “Supper Club” candle next month when my salary comes in 😉
YSL Tattouge Couture in Deep Burgundy- R500
YSL’s recently launched their new liquid matte lip stain called Tattouage Couture. A revolutionary formula for ultra-matte, high impact colour with a lightweight, naked-lip feel. It is one of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried and it stays on for hours! As the formula glides onto your lips you will feel practically nothing as it is quick-drying and transfer-free. The spatula-like applicator gives the precision of a liner with the control of a brush for perfectly defined lips with every application. I love this deep wine colour and have been rocking it this winter. It does stain so keep that in mind if you like to change lipstick colours easily throughout the day. Overall this is a great lip stain that I would recommend spoiling yourself with this winter.
Maybelline Color Sensational Powder Matte Lipsticks- R139 available over here
If you are looking for something SUPER matte, then these lipsticks will be right up your alley. The texture of these lipsticks is surprisingly smooth for a matte, and the colour pay-off is great. These lipsticks are semi-opaque but what I like the most is how fluffy and smooth they feel on the lips. In South Africa they come in 8 shades, of which I was a fan of 4. In terms of the colour scheme, these are definitely a lot more cool-toned, so expect a bit of a “grey” tinge to your look when wearing them(if you know what I mean).
These are the shades that I enjoyed from the collection
Carnal Brown
Cruel Ruby
Taupe Rose
SkinCeuticals Metacell Renewal B3- R1800 available over here
I have recently discovered and fully fallen in love with the SkinCeuticals brand! I have been a fan of the Phloretin CF, and last month I added the Glyclic 10 Overnight, H.A Intensifier and Metacell Renewal B3 to my skin care routine. Skin C is a very ingredient focused brand, and as I get older (and so does my skin), I focus on my skincare even more. Metacell Renewal B3 utilizes a patent-pending aqueous emulsion to deliver a high concentration of 5% niacinamide (vitamin B3) combined with a firming tripeptide concentrate, and 15% pure glycerine to address early signs of photo aging. While signs of photo aging appear at different intensities according to skin biology, lifestyle, geography, sun protection behaviour, and skincare regimen, they have a multiplicative effect, creating a prematurely-aged appearance. I started using this in May and I have seen a significant difference in my skins texture, firmness and overall appearance. It has a very smooth, blurring texture and while you can use it twice a day, I just use it at night over my serum. It’s very light-weight and it’s scent-free. It’s not a cheap investment, but I’ve been using it for 2 months every night and I’m not even 1/4th of the way through it.
