I have always enjoyed reading these types of posts on other blogs, so I thought that I would start the series on my blog too, and see how it goes. The reason I like it is that it gives me a peek into the bloggers lives (and I am very nosey;)) beyond just reviews and outfits. We are after all human, and I enjoy reading what my favorite bloggers get up to every month. I am also struggling to keep afloat when it comes to blogging, so I am hoping these posts can be almost like a monthly wrap up of my life in general every time 😉 Just my unedited thoughts and photos- no filters, no frills. Let me know your thoughts 🙂
Doing: To be honest I am still trying to recover from the Urban Decay launch that was this month.
The month leading up to it was also very hectic for me, I was hit with another round of flu right before I travelled to Croatia and Budapest. Straight after I got back we had a business trip to Cape Town, so my body never got a chance to recover properly. Then the weekend before the launch, I got the worst food poisoning ever, and had to go to the hospital on the Saturday night to get a drip for it! That Monday I had to be back in the office as it was launch week, and I am not joking when I say that we worked 16-hour days for the whole week.
Last weekend was my first time-off since the launch, and my body is still trying to recover and adjust. I am mostly eating, sleeping and drinking wine on the weekends 😉
Planning: August is shaping up to be another hectic month, as one of my best friends is getting married (and I’m a bridesmaid).
And it’s Steve’s and I 6-year anniversary!
So planning bridal showers, anniversary surprises and wedding day festivities are hugely underway. Also, in the first week of September I am off to Spain with 2 of my best friends, so a lot of planning is happening for Barcelona!
Reading: Mostly work presentations, but I am trying to get back into actual reading again. Time is such a scarce thing for me lately, but I find that if you don’t make time for reading, it will never happen. I finally managed to finish “Last Chance Saloon” by Marian Keyes when I was on holiday in Croatia, and now I am starting “If You Could See Me Now” by Cecilia Ahern. Also really wanting to read “Me Before You” after watching the movie, because who doesn’t want to cry to a good book?
Loving: Spending Friday night at home with a glass of wine and a takeout. Going out on a Friday night seems almost impossible to me nowadays, especially during winter.
Give me a good series (currently really enjoying Jane the Virgin), a good glass of red wine, and I am happy.
Trying: To cook! I am really trying to make an effort to learn how to do something in the kitchen. As part of a team building exercise, we all took a cooking class at Taste Buds recently, where I had to make a ratatouille along with my cooking partner. We ended up doing a really good job, and the ratatouille was delicious, if I do say so myself!
Last month I also took a cooking lesson at Discovery, and I have already booked a couples class for Steve and our couple friends next month at Taste Buds again. I am a domestic goddess in the making 😉
That’s all for July for me, here is hoping that August is a goodie!
