I’ve come across this Wanderlust Tag a few times before (first I spotted it on Style Scoop) and after coming across it again, I decided to do it as well. Travel has been such a passion of mine this year and sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with how much I still want to see and wondering if there is enough time! I have barely touched the tip of the traveling iceberg and there are so many places that I can’t wait to explore. Let me know if you enjoy this Wanderlust tag, and feel free to do one yourself! 🙂
- Your most treasured passport stamp?
It’s a hard one to choose, but I think it has to be Paris. Paris was first on my bucket list, so when my parents asked me to choose one place to visit as a gift, picking Paris was a no brainer. My mom and I had a girl’s weekend there last year, and it is one of the most special times that I will treasure forever.
Mauritius is also a close runner up because of the feelings that it involved- it was Steve’s and I first overseas trip together and I stood by my best friends side as she got married there.
- Can you recite your passport # from memory if asked?
I can, but only because I’ve had to use it so much this year!
- Preferred method of travel: planes, trains or automobiles?
I am terrified of flying. Terrified. Everyone always asks how that could be seeing as I’m on a flight every month. But I have a legit fear of flying and every time I have to do it, my freak outs start a few days before the flight. I manage it with calming pills(and I always taking a sleeping pill on the plane) and I’ve learnt to control it pretty well now. Sometimes I still have a little panic attack on the plane and feel like I can’t breathe and start crying, so yes flying is definitely my least favourite. I find car rides very boring, but I really enjoy trains. They are usually pretty smooth and steady, and there is more room to move around on them.
- Top 3 travel items?
I never travel without my little make-up bag (which is packed with minis), my camera and a good book.
- Hostel or hotel?
Hotel all the way. If I’m going to make the long journey from South Africa, there better be a comfy bed with fuzzy socks waiting for me at the end of it 😉

- Are you a repeat visitor or do you explore new places?
I like to explore new places, and barely ever return somewhere twice. I’ve been to Russia though like a million times and while its always exciting, I still prefer visiting new places.
7. Do you read up on your destination (culture, history, safety) or do you wing it?
I’m more of a “wing-it” type of person. The research that I do is usually already within my knowledge, so I only research the place when I get there. I ask locals when I’m there whats the best place to explore and what they recommend. Sometimes it works in my favour, and sometimes it doesn’t 😉
- Favourite travel website?
Not a travel website per se, but I love reading In The Frow travel posts!
- Where would you recommend a friend to visit? Name city & why.
There are so many amazing cities I would recommend to visit, and if you’re in South Africa then the first one would be Mauritius! It’s close by (sort of) and it’s just such a magical place, especially if you are looking to relax. I also really loved Budapest and Barcelona!
10. You’re leaving tomorrow, money is no option, where are you going?
I am dying to visit America! New York and California are definitely next on my list!
