Life is funny- one day you are dancing it up in the club, popping bottles of champagne and showing up hangover to your lectures and the next day you are dreaming about your new kitchen, and planning out what color scheme you are going to get your appliances and crockery in. Well, I am officially in the second part of that sentence, so welcome to my kitchen, I could not be more excited to show it to you! Also as you can see, my kitchen scheme is black and white, so I was also really excited to collaborate with an amazing local brand called Aurora Home, because not only do their beautiful designs fit right into my vibe, but I also absolutely love how they operate and what they stand for!
Aurora Home is the homeware branch of a South African illustration and design studio. They produce unique fabrics and a variety of must-have household items with the utmost care and attention to detail. Lize-Marie is the founder of the brand and she personally illustrates the unique designs and has them printed on lovingly handmade fabrics. I fell in love with their beautiful designs at first sight- from their bright and cheerful Picnic print to the timeless Swan design, I immediately went all heart eye emoji for their things and couldn’t wait to get my hands on their goodies!
Aurora Home is also locally produced, and 100% women owned, which is so great and inspiring! Their products are top-quality that look like nothing else currently available in the homeware market, anywhere in the world! Only 100% pure cotton and genuine leather is used in Aurora products and synthetic fabrics are avoided because of their harmful effect on the environment. Also, no part of the fabric or leather is discarded, so there is zero wastage in the product on process.
So, what are my favorite Aurora products? Well the apron is an absolute must-have for me, in any of the gorgeous designs (I have the beautiful Blackbird print and the other one I really like is the Lemon one and the Mushroom!). To be honest at first I even felt that it was too pretty to cook in, I especially love the leather detail at the back, but I have really enjoyed wearing it when guests come around- it gives me a whole fancy look 😉You can also match your kitchen towel to your apron, and just look at how lovely it can all look in your kitchen!
Their napkins are divine as well, I got the starry set, and yes at first, I was too afraid to use such special items because they are too pretty! Next, I have my eye on the matching table runners to complete my Blackbird design collection, and they also stock some gorgeous soft planters. This range has made such a beautiful addition to my kitchen and my home, so trust me when I say that you will feel the same!
