I recently got to attend the prestigious Elle Beauty Awards held at the Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre, where the winners in every category were announced. The winners of every category are carefully chosen by industry insiders, plus the public also gets to pitch in and vote for their favorites a few months before the awards, so these products are not only loved by editors, beauty bloggers and salon therapists, they are also loved by the public! Some of the winners were a no brainer to me(hello the Clarisonic is like the coolest thing since sliced bread), and I have reviewed or tried most of them before already. Some products were however a new discovery for me, and today I am sharing with you my thoughts on them. Plus I am giving away an amazing hamper worth R2000 with 5 of my favorite winning products in them!
Because there are so many products to get through, I divided it into 3 categories- Hair and Body, Skin Care and Perfume and Make-up. There are 15 products to share, so I know it can be overwhelming. I’m going kick things off today with the Perfume and Make-up bit, tomorrow the Hair and Body, and finally the Skin Care. These products won for a reason, and that’s because they are the best of the best in beauty town. So make yourself a cup of tea, grab a chair, and take a notebook to write down the ones that catch your eye(there should be a few!).
Whats up for grabs are these 5 guys which won in their selective categories. It’s very easy to enter, because Zebra Square is spoiling you with these goodies, all you need to do is follow @zebrasquaresa on Twitter and Instagram(if you have it)-@zebrasquare001. Please comment on this post with your details(commenting on any of the 3 posts related to Elle Beauty Awards is fine, its just so I can find you if you win). These products are amazing and anyone would be so lucky to win them!:)
Now onto the reviews 🙂
Fragrance And Make-Up
Mascaras and Eyeshadows Winner- L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara– Up For Grabs!
All of the beauty babes are more than familiar with this mascara, as its become a bit of a cult product. It arrived on South African shores last year, and really this mascara divides people into 2 categories- you either love it or hate it. On the pro side for me is that it adds volume to your lashes, plus it comes in 3 cool shades-blue, purple and the original black. On the downside, its wand might not be for everyone. It goes for R140 and it beat out long running favorite such as the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Lash Enhancing Mascara and the Lancome Grandiose Mascara. This product should definitely make you sit up and take notice of it next time you are at the shops!
Blushes Winner- MAC Soft And Gentle
This is a product which I had at home myself, and it is one of those products that makes you use the emoticon with the heart eyes. I have been in love with it ever since laying eyes on it in February, and it is the perfect highlighter and illuminator. The only other product that comes even close to it is the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick(which it beat in the awards), and its something that has become a staple in my beauty arsenal. As the MAC Senior make-up artist Keegan taught us at a MAC masterclass, you apply this to your cupids bow, down the ridge of your nose and at the top of your cheek bone, to get that perfect, natural glow. I have every praise in the world for this little guy, no wonder it won!
Nail Colour Winner- OPI in Taupe Less Beach
This was a new product to me as I have never tried OPI before. I enjoyed the texture and quality of the product, but for me the colour is a bit boring. It beat my favorite Essie For The Twill Of It, and while I admit the quality is great, I just wish it was another shade of OPI that won.
Fragrance Winner-Thierry Mugler Alien Eau Extraordinaire– Up for Grabs!
I enjoy Thierry Mugler fragrances, and you are usually an Angel or an Alien kind of gal. I love my Angel so much its become one of my signature scents, but this version of Alien had me in second thoughts about my Angel-or-Alien choice. Its is nowhere near as heavy as the original Alien, but is rather light and fruity with a lot of top citrus notes. An interesting and intriguing addition to my beauty desk.
Foundation Winner- Clarins True Radiance
This was also a new try for me, as I haven’t experienced a Clarins foundation yet. I have worn it a couple of times now and so far what I’ve experienced is that the foundation leaves a lovely, soft glow on your skin and doesn’t dry it out. I will be doing a full-on review of this as soon as I have tested this baby out properly.
Lipstick Winner–Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain(not pictured)
I haven’t tried this personally yet, but I have heard great things about this lippie. If it is anything like the ColourStay Balms that I love, it’s a winner!
Don’t forget to enter to win that R2000 hamper, you don’t want to miss out!:)
