Happy Monday beautiful people! It’s the last month of summer here in South Africa (technically, I mean it will still be warm here until mid- April;)) and I am trying to enjoy it as much as I can! We have had 8 heat waves this season, so it has really been one hot summer! I didn’t get to go away over December due to work, but this Essie resort collection sure had me dreaming of sandy beaches and blue, blue sea, but hey maybe a visit to Italy next month will soothe my pain?;) This gorgeous collection is only available for a little while longer, so grab these babies while it (and by “it” I mean the weather) is hot!
The collection consists of 4 pretty colors- Suite Retreat, Cocoa Karma, Time For Me Time and Stones N Roses. I was in love with 3 out of the 4, so lets take a closer look!
Stones N Roses
This was my favorite color from the collection, which is a very pretty petal pink coral. It has a lovely crème consistency and one coat was enough to get a full coverage but as usual, I used two and a topcoat. I’ve worn this all summer around on my toes and my nails, and during wintertime I am sure going to miss summer when I look at this color! It comes out a lot more vibrant on the nails then in the bottle which I loved.
Suite Retreat
Another favorite of the collection is this blissed out blue orchid color. On the nails it actually gives a beautiful purple tinge, so I would honestly say it’s more on the purple side of things. Again one coat was enough for the color to come through beautifully- such a gem!
Time For Me Time
As much as I loved the name of this iridescent blush sheer pink color, I wasn’t a fan of how it applied and how it looked on the nails. It took a good 3 coats for the shimmer and the pale pink color to come through. Its great for your everyday kind of color or if you like for your nails to be a bit subtler, but for a resort collection I was a bit underwhelmed. I also didn’t enjoy the consistency- it applied very streaky no matter how many times I tried.
Cocoa Karma
Just this cute name reminds me of the song “Copacabana” for some reason! I think of a tropical getaway and this pretty color on my nails. It’s a molten chocolate brown and it has the consistency of just that- a smooth chocolate! I would use two coats with this one, and due to its work-friendly hue I would recommend investing in this color the most!
The Essie Resort collection is available at select salons and spas and retails for R125 each.Keep an eye out on the blog next week for an exciting Essie giveaway!
