Lookbook- Summer With Truworths Fashion

It’s almost time for spring, and for me its also almost time for a holiday! This season of the year is definitely my most favourite one, as when the flowers begin to bloom, I feel like I start coming alive with them again. I like to think that I go into hibernation during winter (sadly I still have to attend social events like work) and come alive again in spring. And what better way to refresh and restart, then with some wardrobe additions from Truworths Fashion and their new summer 2016 range!

Summer 2016 at Truworths is a minimalist affair characterized by pastels, nautical elegance, and bohemian wanderlust. I was immediately drawn to this yellow pastel midi skirt, because I’ve never met a midi skirt that I didn’t just love! This was my first pleated one though, and I really love it! It’s the most gorgeous color that brings happiness and life into any outfit. Don’t you think it’s just gorgeous?

I paired the skirt with this cute statement T-shirt, because let’s be honest- chocolate is always my best friend! Can’t live without it, I love it in any form (except as ice cream) and any shape. The LINDT Orange dark chocolate gives me life, and is probably my most favorite in the range. I really like the way the pastel skirt and the statement tee pair together, to create a cool and easy spring look.

I’ve worn this outfit to work already and it also wouldn’t look out of place at a concert (paired with flats), gallery hopping on First Thursdays, a brunch in Braamfontein, or really anywhere the day takes you. I paired the look with some bright pink heels and a purple lipstick, but it would look just as nice with some pretty pumps and a nude lip.

[…] and as soon as the weather gets warmer, I whip them out and pair the skirts with different items. I have paired this same skirt with a black top before, but I really like pairing it with this white bodysuit because I feel like I look like a lemon […]

Instagram post 2192268505198681556_206198477 Me looking at December with this loving look like 🥰🥰🥰Honestly, 2019 has been such a busy year that I am so looking forward to the holidays and a little bit of a break. I’m not even doing anything exciting as we have saved all of our cash for honeymoon and wedding things, but I can’t wait to just sleep in, drink wine and relax. What are your December plans? PS this New Years Inspo outfit was shot by the lovely @shante.hutton.photography and will be up on the blog soon 🥰
Instagram post 2190942558071562146_206198477 Forever has a nice ring to it 🥰🥰🥰Less than 5 months to go until our wedding, and I’m finally feeling like I’ve got my ducks 🦆 in a row! Venue, dress, flowers, and decor is sorted, so only a few more things to tick off the list. Should I do a wedding planning update? Honestly it’s taken me a while to gather the best and some of the most budget friendly suppliers around Cape Town and feel like I should pass on the info ☺️ #DevineIDo
Instagram post 2185088803413446673_206198477 Fell in love with Bali 2 years ago, and haven’t stopped dreaming about it since 😍 Sometimes, some things happen in your life just when you need them, without ever realizing that you needed them in the first place. I was in a very strange place in my life when I went on this trip, and it was exactly what I needed to not only re-energize, but to gain my love of life back! Bali is a magical place, and I often hear people talk about how good it was for their soul, and I completely agree. After coming back from this trip a lot of things changed for me and I often think back to this moment and how it helped me heal 🙏🏻 Am I just crazy, or is Bali just that amazing? 😄
Instagram post 2183342537113508538_206198477 You know you’re getting old, when prospects of new carpets and floors excites you 😂 Last weekend I visited @carpetdecor_sa to check out their range of carpets, wooden floors, blinds(and more!), because I am officially at the age where I want to start spending money on getting new laminate floors rather than shoes(okay, that’s a bit drastic, maybe half-half😂). At @carpetdecor_sa you can get a free quote plus they are available in 11 branches all over the country(I visited the Fourways Showroom to get a feel for a full range). They are currently running a fab Love Your Home promo where you can win R5000(see their page for more details). I am dreaming of some pink carpets to go into my beauty room 😍 #homedecor #ad #carpetsandecor
Instagram post 2179995150735350914_206198477 What’s your favorite country in the world 🌎? It’s a hard question, and for me it would be a toss up between France, Russia and Greece 🇬🇷 I always knew that I would love Greece, why else would I go back to the same country twice in a space of just over a year, and seriously consider going back for the third time next year? 😂Part of the reason as to why I love it so much, is that I have always been obsessed with Greek food. I could talk about it for another 5 posts, so when @plakasa invited me to try their new Meze Platter for 2, I happily accepted(as I normally get the Vegetarian Meze platter there at least once a month 🤤). The delicious Meze includes chicken souvlaki, halloumi, calamari, shish kebab and more tasty little plates that are meant to be enjoyed together at a leisurely pace(and costs R249 for the platter). Honestly it was so yummy, and I have cravings to go back to Greece for our honeymoon next year(I haven’t done Paros,Milos and Crete yet 😉). I highly encourage you to try this delicious platter to truly taste a piece of Greece(and now I’m hungry, and must have some Tzatziki immediately 🤣) #hosted

Thank goodness for editing apps, better accessories and other travel bloggers for inspiring me to take better pictures! There is a lot that goes into taking a great travel shot, and the pictures that we took by the Trevi Fountain were some of my all-time favourites. If you’re looking at getting that perfect “Insta Shot” in a tourist hotspot, here are a few of my tips 🔽
1. Go early ☀️! It’s an simple as that. Sometimes you really don’t feel like waking up early on vacation and getting your full glam on, but it’s not only worth it for the ‘gram, it’s also worth it for you! You get to see a historical landmark almost to yourself and marvel at its beauty. Every landmark is different, we got to the Trevi Fountain by about 9am and while there were other people there, it wasn’t very full and we still got to take the pictures that I wanted, throw our coins in, and admire this beauty before it got really busy.
2. Do your research👩🏻‍💻
If there is a spot where I want to take my picture at, I always research it beforehand and let my photographer(Steve, my mom, my friends) know of the shot that I want. It’s good reference for them, so you are not disappointed with your pictures afterwards. Also find out what time a place opens, entrance fees, if they allows photos etc because you can be surprised!
3. Throw on a good filter 💁🏻‍♀️
I often get asked what app I use to edit my photos, and I use Lightroom and @campsbaygirl presets. I got the “Oh La La” set a while ago and she has some of the best presets in the business! It’s a small fee for a long-term use.
Do you have any Insta-shot hacks to share with me? 🙇🏻‍♀️
