Have you reached the stage of self-isolation and “working from home” where you are putting on actual clothes yet? If not, read my previous post about PJs and active wear, it will be perfect for you ;). If yes, then you and I have both graduated to the next level of this COVID-19 saga, and we are ready to start putting on some “normal” day-to-day clothing again. I will be heading back to the office next month(at least at this stage), and I need to start getting used to wearing something other than tights and jerseys that I’ve been living in for the past 2 months. The best way to ease ourselves into wearing clothes again, is by wearing a dress. I love dresses because they are so easy to wear, they can hide multiple sins (or have I been the only one indulging this quarantine? ;)) and they last from season to season.
I actually got this dress last year already, and I wore it not only in winter with some boots and tights, but also in summer, as a jacket! Because the dress buttons down all the way, it was easy enough to throw it over as a long jacket in the summer, paired with just jeans and a T-shirt. I know it sounds weird, but try it, it’s awesome to get extra wear out of a dress like that. There are similar dresses like this still at Zara (which is where I got this one from), you can shop it online here and here. By the way, I am loving the Zara online shopping experience. The stuff arrives in a branded box, with tissue paper and wrapped all pretty inside, it’s like a press drop ha-ha 🙂
Last season the maxi “loose” dresses came into fashion, and I don’t see them leaving anytime soon. They are very easy to wear because they are “shapeless” as such, so if you are feeling bloated, don’t want to shave your legs, or just feeling like wearing something flowy, dresses like the famous Zara polka dot ones, are perfect for you. Superbalist has also launched a whole range on there, check it out here. They come in different prints and lengths, and you can style them down with some sneakers or style them up for work with a great belt and heels. Honestly I was against the trend at first because I felt like the dress could look like a bit of a sack, but after the ride that 2020 has been, I just want to be comfortable, so I might just buy one of these! If you are looking for a price saver, Mr. Price also has some great versions of this dress.
All in all, I highly recommend that you invest in a long, flowy dress this season, whether you are working from home or at the office. Putting on something nice at home and brushing your hair, can also add a little bit of positivity into your day(it does for me anyway :)), and I immediately feel a bit better on the few days that I get out of my sweats and put on my “outside” clothes again, even though I am just working in my lounge. Plus with a dress like mine, think of it as an investment as you can wear it in multiple ways!
