It seems like I blinked and now it’s June, anyone else feel that way? Between our Urban Decay All Nighter trip, Easter, re-opening of Sandton store, our Greece trip, camping and then a week in Cape Town, autumn was done and dusted! I hope that the next 3 months go quick as well because I am not a huge fan of winter, but I do enjoy winter fashion! I shot this look a while back but I am finally sharing it today because it is perfect for today’s blog post- my winter staples!
First thing is first- I have a low-key obsession with thigh high boots. I bought this pair a few year back at Aldo because I wanted them so bad, and since then I added another 2 pairs from Cotton On and River Island to my collection. Nothing makes your legs look longer than an over-the-knee boot in winter! Mid-length boots always make my calves look chunky, so I stick to either ankle booties or thigh highs in the winter. You get thigh highs with different heels, so if you are not comfortable with the stiletto heel like I have here, than get a nice chunky heel- I wore mine all over London in March and they are super comfortable. You can get some fab brown ones on sale from Cotton On over here, or there are some great black options in Superbalist over here and here.
My next winter staple is a great pair of jeans, although it is an all-around staple! However, I do find myself wearing a lot more jeans in winter, even to work! I pair them with a smart blazer as I did in these pictures. Sissy Boy has always been one of my favourite brands when it comes to well fitted jeans, and these high waisted ones are on high rotation now. Check out the few good options over here for jeans, and this blazer is a must-have! I love the cape sleeves because it adds a touch of something different, and I wear this blazer all the time- with dresses, with pants and really anytime I need to “smart”-up an outfit. It is from Forever New and they do bring this style back every now and again, but there is a similar option over on Spree over here.
Lastly, I finished this look with a bodysuit, because I do just love the way they fit a woman’s body. No outfit in complete without a fab bag, and this baby Michael Kors Selma Bag is one of the best in my collection. However, it does come with a steep price, so I suggested checking out some cute options over here and here.
