Happy Monday guys and welcome back to the blog! The past 2 weeks were so crazy for me, I took a weekend trip to London (more on that later in the weekJ) and then last weekend we re-opened our Sandton City store because it moved locations. I have been crazy busy and working weekends, so “me-time” has been very scarce, and it started to show on my skin as it became a little drier and I started to break out from all of the stress. Luckily I just recently got the 2 new L’Oreal Clay Masks and finally found 10 minutes every couple of days, to treat my skin to a little bit of love. Lets talk about them today, and see what I would look like if I was an emoji (keep reading ;))
The Clay Masks launched last year and the Detox Clay Mask and the Glow Mask are staples in my beauty arsenal. They feel great on the skin, smell amazing, they are so quick to use- I literally use them in the shower and leave them on for 5 minutes or so, and my skin feels so soft afterwards. This year, they are two new additions to the Clay Mask family- The Blemish Rescue Mask and the Bright Mask. What makes them even more fun is the fact that they are yellow and bright blue, so if you multi-mask using both of them, you end up looking like and emoji, which is what I tried doing in these pics, ha-ha 🙂
The Blemish Rescue Mask is bright blue in color because it contains Marine Algae extract, which is known for its anti-blemish properties. It is soft to the touch and a lot easier to apply than the other masks, and it dries down to the same color (i.e. it does not lighten). The three pure clays that it contains are Kaolin (a natural clay that absorbs excess sebum), Montmorillonite (helps to fight skins imperfections) and Ghassoul (highly concentrated in minerals that are known to help clarify complexion).
The mask smells divine, so it’s a pleasure to put on the skin and to play around with it. I didn’t notice an immediate effect with it as far as blemishes go, and it took me about 2 weeks and 2-3 uses a week to notice the change in my skin. But keep in mind, while you are using this mask, it will get rid of the blemishes, but you are also bringing some of them up to the top of the surface to get rid of. I would recommend this mask for someone who doesn’t have huge breakout concerns but wants to keep the skin looking pimple, and blackhead free.
Then I tried out the Bright Mask, which is yellow in color and contains extracts of Yuzu Lemon, which is known to brighten skin. Don’t confuse a Bright with A Glow- brightening mask reduces pigmentation and evens out the skin tone, while the Glow Mask helps with radiance and overall vibrancy of the skin. I have been having some uneven skin tone concerns lately, where my skin is looking a little bit patchy, so I have been turning to this mask quite a bit.
It is such a pleasure to apply because it is softer than the other clay masks, and I love the little granules in it that help exfoliate the skin. I felt like with mask I saw an effect almost straight away, where my skin looked brighter after using it. Again, I will carry on using this 2-3 times a week to see what the permanent and more long lasting effect of this mask is.
The fun part about these masks is of course the fact that you can make yourself look like and emoji! L’Oreal is running a #ClayMoji challenge(but hurry, it closes this week), where you can join in the fun and make yourself an emoji! One of my favorite emojis is the “I’m Shook” emoji, which I tried to re-create here J The stressed out emoji which I am doing below is how I’ve been feeling the last 2 weeks, so I feel like its rather fitting to be doing it. Join in the #ClayMoji fun on Instagram with other influencers and you can win a PJ party for you and your friends! These masks are now available at Dis-Chem and Clicks for R169.95 each
