Happy Manicure Monday guys! I was in Cape Town over the last week, so sorry for the lack of posts. Trying to get back on track today, and this week is going to be jam-packed on the blog with beauty things, outfits and awesome giveaways! I am kicking the week of by sharing some of my favourite Essie shades for the Autumn and Winter season. Its cooling down fast here in Johannesburg, and I am wearing a jersey and socks as I type this because the chill is real!
Autumn calls for darker shades, and I immediately find myself reaching towards deep reds, plums and browns as soon as April starts rolling around. I am a huge fan of Essie nail polish, and not only do I enjoy the quality, I love the funky colors and the names! Chicara and I were just saying last week that we would like our full-time jobs to be naming Essie nail polishes. These all also have super cute names despite their darker hues.
I am sharing 3 of the must-have colors for the season, and these are in the permanent Essie collection(not limited edition), so you can find them at your nearest Dis-Chem, Clicks or beauty salons.
Damsel In A Dress
A gorgeous deep berry hue that any girl should have for this winter. It has a gel-like texture, and you can see the hint of glitter in it. You can see on the swatch that one coat looks good, but I would suggest , depending on your nails, applying two or three coats and don’t forget the “Good To Go” top coat! It will make it last longer, and give it a smooth, shiny finish.
Tomboy No More
This is a bloody red with yummy wine undertones. To me this shade literally looks like what a glass of wine would look like. I prefer “Really Red” for the summer months because its vibrant and bright, and this is the perfect substitute for it for the colder weather. It looks a lot darker in the bottle than in does on your nails, and I am currently wearing it on my nails, so you can see how pretty it looks in real life.
Licorice
This is the original, jet black polish that started the huge black nail polish trend. While going all black on your nails is not for the faint hearted, you can play around with it and do a black-and-white mani, or just use it for accent nails. personally I love it, I often say that I like my eyelashes black like my soul(hehe) and this winter I am also adding the nail bit into that saying. It also has a gel-like texture, and I can spy a hint of purple in it when the sun hits. Like a delicious black Liquorice(craving the Liquorice All Sorts now!).
What do you think of these shades for Autumn and Winter? Aren’t they picture perfect? All Essie polishes go for R125 so grab one next time you are browsing!
