Even though I try out new products almost every week, some things become staples in my beauty room, and cannot be replaced. I definitely have a favorite face cream, a favorite eyeshadow and a favorite lipstick. More so, I also have products that I keep re-purchasing because they are just that good, that no other product can compare to them! I know it’s rare for beauty bloggers to do a post on things that they have multiples of, but that’s exactly what my post is about today- items that I keep re-purchasing! On the agenda today are- my favorite eyeliner, mascara, setting spray, face cream, eye cream and foundation! It goes without saying that I recommend all of the products below, as I wouldn’t keep buying them if I wasn’t utterly obsessed with them.
Foundation- Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear(R550, buy it here)
The thing that I have struggled the most with, when it comes to foundation, is getting my shade right. Because I have a neutral undertone, it is not often offered in a lot of foundations- you usually get pink or yellow undertones but a neutral undertone is a difficult find. I was super excited when Lancome expanded their Teint Idole range to 40 shades, because I knew I was bound to find my shade in there, and I did! I am 025, and this is my go-to everyday foundation- as you can see from these pictures! I like that the coverage is medium but very buildable, and I usually use 2 pumps of it in the morning, but if my skin is not behaving, I use 3 pumps for full coverage. Teint Idole goes on like a dream, and it is so easy to blend (I use my Urban Decay Optical Blurring brush to apply it, of which I also literally have 5 duplicates). The full bottle lasts me about 4-5 months, so this year so far, I have gone through 2 and a bit bottles. I highly recommend this foundation to anyone, visit your nearest Lancome counter to find your shade and fall in love with it like I did!
Mascara- Lancome Monsieur Big(R360, buy it here)
I can’t believe that I haven’t done a review on this mascara before, because ever since I first tried it last year, this is what I have been wearing every day. I LOVE this mascara so much, because it gives my lashes volume, and it has a multiplying effect. In most of my pictures since last year, this is the mascara that I am wearing. I have gone through close to 7 tubes of it in the last year-and-a half, and I have another 3 tubes in my beauty draw, as back up.
You can guess that it gives you BIG lashes from the name, and it does have quite a fluffy brush, which is not always for everyone. The reason why I keep re-purchasing it is because it gives my lashes insane volume(my dad once asked me if I had falsies on when I had Monsieur Big on), it doesn’t flake and it doesn’t smudge. I wear it all day, every day and it stays put. If you want to wear it to the beach, there is a Monsieur Big Waterproof as well, which doesn’t budge at all. In the pictures below I am wearing the Monsieur Big Mascara and the Grandiose Eyeliner, so you can see the effect that it gives my lashes.
Eyeliner- Lancome Grandiose Eyeliner(R360, buy it here)
Another love of my life, is the Lancome Grandiose Eyeliner. There might be 5 of them in the picture here, but I’ve used about 12 in the last 2 years. The reason I love this liner is because of its tip, which gives me a lot of precession and it is very thin. I can do my wing very chilled and easy, or go all out with the drama with a big wing. The only thing about this liner, is that it can dry out quickly. What I do is that I spray the liner and the tube with some of my All Nighter Setting Spray, and it’s good to go again. I go through one of them every two months or so, and while there are a lot of liquid liners on the market, I have yet to find one who’s tip is that thin and that offers flexibility.
Setting Spray- Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray(R460)
There is really nothing quite like this setting spray, and this is my Holy Grail product for sure. All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray keeps makeup looking gorgeously just-applied for up to 16 hours, without melting, fading or settling into fine lines. It honestly sets make-up like nothing else I have ever tried, and it keeps my make-up intact the whole day at work. This is a life saver when I am travelling and exploring cities in the heat, when I am on beach (because yes, you can swim with your make-up on!), and when I am pulling a literal All Nighter. A bottle of this lasts me about 3-4 months, and I often de-can the big one into my travel-sized one. There is nothing quite like this spray to keep your make-up set all day, so I recommend everyone invests in one, because once you try it once, you won’t be able to stop.
Eye Shadow Primer- Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion(R335, buy it here)
I never knew how much I needed and eye primer, before I actually tried out this one. Now if I don’t put this on every morning before applying my eyeshadow, I feel naked! The paraben-free formula of this primer, packs the powers it’s famous for: 24-hour, crease-free shadow, more vibrant colour and smoother application. Once you’ve tried Eyeshadow Primer Potion, you’ll never want to live without it again, its true! The formula glides on smoothly, and space-age polymer technology fills in any imperfections on the skin’s surface, prepping your lids for all-day shadow. It makes my eyeshadow more vibrant, and prevents it from creasing, and paired with the Setting Spray, this is an iconic duo. I prefer the Original version of this primer, but the Anti-Aging one is also a favourite. A tube usually lasts me about 6 months(I use it everyday but gently), and I promise you this- try it, and fall in love with it!
Face Cream- Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream(R440, buy it here)
An oldie, but a goodie, this cream has a firm space on my bed-side table. It’s simple but so efficient which is why I keep on re-purchasing it. This Kiehl’s classic offers continuous moisture replenishment for skin throughout the day. This nourishing moisturizer for dry skin leaves skin feeling comfortable even in extreme weather conditions. Now I wouldn’t say that I have super dry skin, which is why I rely on this in winter a lot more than in the summer time. In winter Ultra Facial Cream replenishes my skin hydration like nothing else, leaving my skin soft and healthy-looking. It’s formulated with Squalene, Glacial Glycoprotein Extract and Imperata Cylindrica and is actually suitable for all skin types. A tub like this usually lasts me about 3 months, but I always make sure to have a few backups of this firm favorite for any emergencies. Plus, this is also great on a flight(as it is usually dry AF in the cabin), and you get a travel sized of it that is within airline regulations!
Eye Cream- Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Cream(R440, buy it here)
Boy, do I have lots of empty tubs of this baby lying around! I discovered the Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado eye cream 2 years ago, and since then I have been using it religiously every morning. Now if you are looking for an active ingredient eye cream, that will help you diminish the look of wrinkles, this is not for you. The reason I love Creamy Avo is that it moisturizes my dry under eye area like nothing else, and the result is instant. Its uniquely-concentrated formula does not migrate into eyes and is infused with efficacious ingredients including Beta-Carotene, Shea Butter and Avocado OilOphthalmologist- and dermatologist-tested for safety. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, so if you suffer with a dry under-eye area, this is your new best friend. My eyes immediately look more awake and moisturized after I put this on in the morning.
