Pucker up lovelies- it’s Valentines Day week on the blog! I mentioned before that I love the wanna-be holiday, coupled up or not. In high school my girlfriends and I would always get each other cute little gifts, and I usually just enjoy the day with my loved ones- whether it’s a boyfriend, girlfriends or my mom. So this week is love-themed on the blog, and yes you may get a little bit sick of all the pink going on, but bear with me. Summer is almost on its way out from South Africa and I have to try to wear all of my summery pink clothes as much as I can! Whats in store this week is 4(yes 4!) outfit posts all based around on what to wear on Saturday for all different types of occasions girls night out, picnic in the park, lunch fun and date night, as well as a few fun beauty posts. And of course a giveaway, because I need to spread the love! Today is all about getting that perfect pout on Valentines day and the perfect lippies to help you achieve that.
I’ve picked 5 of my favorite red and pink lipsticks to help you get that delicious look. There are a few different textures and colors of the lipsticks, so whatever floats your boat I’m sure you will find at least one of these choices interesting.
The Fiery Doutzen
I reviewed the L’oreal Pure Red lipsticks a while back here, and the Doutzen makes for a great choice if you want a bold, fiery red lip. The texture is matte which of course is very sexy and the lasting power of the lipstick is great so it will get you through dinner or a night out. I recommend pairing it with the prefect LBD for a date with your man or a party with the girls.
The Sugar Pink Candy
Another favorite matte lipstick of mine is Candy Yum Yum from MAC. It is considered to be one of MACs cult colors, and this is a notice-me kind of color. It is Barbie pink and stands out from the crowd. It might be a bit too much on a first date, but perfect for the club scene because your crush will notice you from across the room with this color on your lips!
The Delicious Berry Pink
If you haven’t tried out the Bobbi Brown Art Sticks yet, give yourself a favor and swatch one next time you walk past a counter. It has the precision of a lip pencil while still being moisturizing on your lips. Although the shade is called “Electric Pink” its more on the raspberry side of things. It has a very satin texture and lasts very long, as long as a lip special would.Perfect for any place, any time.
The ColourBurst Sweetheart
I have a soft spot for the Revlon ColourBurst balms, so of course I was going to include one on this list. This specific shade called Sweetheart is a great pick for Valentines day and with its sheer texture this would be great on a day event like a lunch or a picnic. It gives you that bit of color without being overwhelming all while smelling like delicious mint and keeping your lips hydrated.
The Show Stopper
I am really loving the Bourjois Velvet Liquid Lipstick lately(read a full review here), and I have heard a couple of people say this shade, called Ole Flamingo, is too bright for them, because it’s not for the faint hearted. The liquid lipstick dries matte on your lips, leaving a perfect finish and it also stains the lips a bit, so this one is hard to get off. If you are planning an awesome night out on Saturday, this is your new best friend.
