Wedding planning has been quite stressful, I won’t even lie to you! There are so many details around it from the florist to the DJ to the videographer, and it’s been non-stop emails and quotes on that front. But the one part of wedding planning that I have been REALLY enjoying is picking out our wedding registry! Not that we expect people to get us gifts as we are having a destination wedding, but a few of our family members that are not able to make it, have already asked where we are registered so they could send us a gift anyway. I looked through a few wedding registries that are on offer in South Africa, but ended up settling on Wrapistry, and here is why!
Wrapistry was founded back in 2015 by Pat and Linda, a mother and a mother-in-law who saw firsthand with their own children just how stressful planning a wedding could be! The ladies wanted to make the process of picking gifts for your registry as easy as possible, so together with Linda’s sons they founded Wrapistry, an online wedding registry that has over 250 brands under one roof. Why register at multiple retailers, when you can pick everything that you need all at once, making it that much easier for your guests?
Right now Wrapistry has over 250 brands on it, and the team doesn’t plan on stopping there! I drooled over SMEG appliances, Alessi kitchen ware, Le Creuset gift cards and Mungo towels when I first created our registry. With so much choice, it can be a little overwhelming, but Wrapistry offers VIP service where you can actually sit with the team and they take you through the website and what you might need. I sat with Linda personally, but the Wrapistry team is also available for you online to talk you through the process and their personal recommendations.
What I enjoyed about how the website is build, is that you can search for items either through Collections or by Categories. In Collections you will find curated pages for exactly what you’re looking for, like Starting from Scratch, if hubby and you are living together for the first time. I leaned a lot on the “Upgrade Your Home” collection, as Steve and I have lived together already, so we have all of the essentials for the kitchen and the lounge. “Build Your Bar” is a fun one, where the men can get a bit carried away planning their Man Cave away, and there is a helpful “Gifts under R500” collection. Alternatively, you can select your gifts by Categories like Kitchen, Lounge, Bathroom and so on.
Don’t feel like you want actual gifts, but some money, honey? That’s not a problem, as on Wrapistry you can also create funds! There is an option to create Cash Funds, with different agendas to them. You can start a Honeymoon Fund where guests can contribute towards your dream vacation, a Savings for A Home Fund, A Dinner Fund so you can have monthly dinners at fancy restaurants after you get married, a Spa Experience Fund, and so much more. There is also an option for your guests to contribute money towards Experiences such as Cooking Classes, Sweat 1000 classes, a visit to Madikwe Game Farm or even the Johannesburg Hop On, Hop Off Bus.
I also found their Gift Advice Tab very helpful, where it estimates how many gifts in each price bracket you should have based on your number of guests. Don’t worry if you want to put something big and expensive on the registry that you might need (like I need an air fryer), as Wrapistry has an option of Group Gifting, where instead of 1 person buying an item, you can split it amongst the group. Very handy when you are needing some big-ticket items like Mixers and Fridges!
Steve and I spend a good few weeks adding everything to our registry and I can’t wait to show you what I recommend as my top picks to Upgrade Your Home. There might even be an awesome giveaway in it for you, so stay tuned ;).
