Ever since I discovered Kiehl’s over a year ago, it has had a constant presence in my skin-care routine. I love trying out Kiehl’s products, and it is one of my favorite skin care brands to date. Today I am so exited to share with you my favorite Kiehl’s products, and to give one hamper filled with those goodies away to one reader! This is all part of the Kiehl’s Pioneers By Nature campaign, a program that honors innovators, game changers and trendsetters who are pioneering new ways of viewing and experiencing the world today.
You can read a little bit more about the campaign and Kiehl’s history over here, and get to know my 2 chosen Pioneers over here. But before we even get into the products, I wanted to share the Pioneer in my life- a person that helped pave the way my life is going, inspired me, and was a trailblazer for me. Of course that person is my mother, who has inspired me continuously over the years. She completed her degree in Electrical Engineering, which pushed me to get my degree in Mathematics, she is a successful writer, which inspired me to channel my creativity into this blog, and she is overall an amazing human, whom I look up to each and single day!
My Pioneer is my mother, but who is the pioneer in your life?
Lets chat a bit about the products before we get into that!
The Super Multi-Corrective Cream(RSP R715)
This is my ultimate Kiehl’s product, and you can believe me when I say it, because this is one of the rare products that I actually managed to finish! As a beauty blogger, I very seldom finish a whole full-size jar of moisturizer, but this little gem blew me away! Even though this is technically an anti-aging moisturizer, I didn’t use it for those benefits (although they do help of course).
The Super Multi-Corrective Cream is enriched with Jasmonic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid and Beech Tree Extract, it corrects the appearance of key visible signs of aging, reduces wrinkles, and your skin feels firmer as if it was lifted. The texture of your skin also looks refined and more “glow-y”, if I can put it that way. I used it every morning in conjunction with the Hydro Pumping Serum (more on that later), and it was a real winner for me, especially during the winter months! It really made my skin feel healthy, it absorbs quickly and nourishes the skin with moisture. It has a very slight herbal scent to it, and all together this is an amazing moisturizer, and I would re-purchase it over and over.
Hydro Plumping Re-Texturing Serum Concentrate(RSP R625)
I’ve mentioned here before, that people always get confused about what hydration in your skin really means. You keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of water, but what about your skin? Even if you have an oily skin, your skin can still suffer from a lack of hydration! Hydration is responsible for making your skin look plump, smooth and beautifully textured. This product is very heavily based on Glycerin- a renowned skincare ingredient that works as a moisture magnet and pulls essential moisture into skin. It is highly compatible with skin and also creates a “reservoir effect”, enhancing the water-holding capacity of the skin and ultimately helping to provide skin elasticity and plumpness and facilitates epidermal barrier function. Due to the heavy contains of Glycerin, you will notice that the texture of the serum is very glycerin-like, but that doesn’t stop the serum from being absorbed into the skin very quickly and easily.
I always used it on conjunction with the Super Multi-Corrective Cream, and together they make a mean duo! This product also has a lot of anti-aging benefits in it, and it is quite literally like a glass of water for your face!
Midnight Recovery Concentrate(RSP R710)
I’ve raved about this product here before, and I still have only the kindest words for it. It has gotten me through two very dry Jozi winters, and there is still even a third of it left! The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is replenishing nighttime facial oil with distilled botanicals that visibly restores the appearance of skin by morning. It smells like Lavender Oil and for a good reason, this product is enriched with it! Lavender Oil helps to soothe inflamed or irritated skin while helping reduce skin blotchiness for a more even look.
It also has extracts of Evening Primrose Oil that boosts the skins radiance, and Squalane, a botanical lipid that is similar in molecular structure to natural skin lipids. It has an exceptional affinity to skin, and because it’s easily absorbed, Squalane helps restore skin’s natural moisture balance to keep it extra soft and supple. Just a few drops a night is enough to get your skin look great!
Actively Correcting And Beautifying BB Cream(RSP R525)
I love BB Creams for spring and summer, as that is when I let my skin be free and breathe as much a possible. The Kiehl’s BB Cream is a dual-action formula that instantly conceals imperfections with lightweight, buildable coverage and visibly corrects the appearance of skin tone irregularities on a daily basis. It is formulated with a high level of Vitamin C that is known for its affinity with skin and its powerful ability to improve the appearance of skin aging. The coverage it gives is very, very light and it does have a slight medicinal smell to it that disappears the moment you blend it into your skin. The great advantage of this BB cream is that it contains an SPF50, and in this South African sun this is the minimum coverage that you need!
Today I am giving away all 4 of these products(worth more than R2500!) to one lucky reader, and here is what you need to do in order to enter- I want you to tell me who the Pioneer in your life is! Who is the person in your life that inspires you the most? Is it your parents, your best friend, your partner? Leave me a comment here, or tweet your entry to @irinadoman using the hashtag #PowerPioneer and you could be the lucky winner!
Winners will be announced in 1 weeks from today. Only open to residents of South Africa.

I do not think any one person inspired me greatly. My parents, of course, helped me want to make something of myself, but more recently, my child inspire’s me to want to be as good of a role model for her as I can possibly be. At the moment, I think she is a major source of inspiration for me. But overall, I get inspiration from a desire to be the best I can be, not from a desire to emulate someone else. #PowerPioneer ?

I am blessed to have many inspirational people in my life, but I think the one who stands out most for me is a friend who, despite facing loss, abuse and some hardships most of us will never have to endure, has come out fighting strong, standing on her own two feet and infusing the world around her with love and humour. She is at the top of her career, has turned her health around by eating right and keeping fit, running marathons and triathlons. Very few know of the heartache she has endured. She is a beacon of hope and encouragement and a big source of inspiration to me. She has proved that she is definitely a #PowerPioneer and a totally amazing woman. <3

“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words”. To be quite honest, I never knew what a BFF was until I met my soul sister Fathima. This feisty and amazing lady has been my anchor throughout my journey in life. Now back to the matter of this amazing Kiehl’s treat to share with someone who means the world to me. Without batting an eyelid, I would choose my sister-in-law Fathima as the pioneering lady that is making a difference . Before you remark on how can sister-in-laws especially in Indian communities be so close? Yes, it’s rare but ever since that fateful day in June almost 12 years ago; we have been super close and more like sisters than anything else. We are mistaken for sisters everywhere we go and the fact that she is 9 years older than me, means that she is always there to look out for my best interests like a big sister. Yes, we have our moments when we fight over the same dress at the store or we disagree about boyfriends but when we hook up, the sisterly chemistry is there. Fathima has been my rock throughout the years and she had her fair share of setbacks that has made her stronger than ever. She is an amazing single mum to 2 beautiful teenage girls and she has done an excellent job at empowering these girls. That to me deserves an accolade as being a single parent is difficult. I respect her and I love her more than anything and when I was involved in a horrific car accident that claimed someone I loved, she was there to help me to pick up the pieces! The fact that Fathima has managed to lose 15 kgs of weight and to kick that nasty and cheat of a boyfriend to the curb, calls for celebration indeed. Bring on the Moet please? To tell the truth my BFF is my inspiration and my light at the end of the tunnel. So coupled with years of tears, hard work and laughter we share an unbreakable bond. Ok, I am starting to get all misty eyed now, in short I can think of no one that deserves this amazing treat than my BFF Fathima…So please with love, wave that magical wand dearest I’ll Take it All Blog, so we both can have many girls nights out and use the Midnight Recovery Concentrate and still look like a million bucks! This pioneering woman is my inspiration. Enough said.

My #PowerPioneer has to be my Father. He inspires and empowers me when ever he can. He has overcome many obstacles in his life, biggest one having to drop out of school on Grade 9. Despite being an uneducated man, he never let that define who we was or wanted to be. He now owns a very successful company and continues to inspire those around him. He gives selflessly to help others find themselves and nurtures the greatness that’s within them. I may sound like any typical daughter, but my dad is something great. He has taught me to dream big and do more, and that no one has a reason not to be a success in whatever they choose to do.
Renate says
I have lost my dad this year February and still feels like yesterday. My dad was my rock, my inspiration, my everything. Everything I do I keep his spirit in my heart. He taught me to have unconditional love. My dad is still my inspiration and will always be.

I have never tried anything by Kiehls so I am super keen. My #PowerPioneer is my mother. She lost my dad suddenly when my brothers and I were tiny kids. She was a housewife & had never worked a day in her life. Suddenly the breadwinner, she went from typist to secretary to owning three hugely successful companies within 10 years. How she did all of that with a broken heart and 3 kids between 2 and 7 as a single mom I will NEVER know. She is incredible. I got my courage from her, and also her long legs & lashes 😉 Thanks mom!
Shalane says
My #PowerPioneer is my son Robbie. Being a single mom isn’t only hard work but also the best motivation anyone can have! I work hard to provide him with the life he deserves and sometimes it gets too much but when I see his little face I know that it is all worth it. He makes every day brighter and makes me stronger. I know my dreams were put on the back burner when he was small but now that he is 5 he inspires me every day to achieve those dreams.
Thanks for this amazing competition!

It’s hard to choose just one #PowerPioneer I think all people close to me are. My parents, sisters, and close friends. I just would not be the same without them. They are everything!

The most inspirational person in my life has to be my mom. She is just such a patient and kind soul, always so willing to give and never expects anything in return. Every wednesday she makes sandwiches for the underpriviledged school in our area, this inspires me to want to help too. She is just one of those people who excels in everything she does.. she is not a dressmaker.. but managed to make both my sister and I our gorgeous wedding dresses.. she’s not a baker but she can make the most amazing cakes.. and all these things have been self taught. this inspires me to want to learn from her and know that the impossible is achievable, one just has to try.. you never know what you are capable of doing 🙂

My sister inspires me the most. She’s a great mother to her her two children and a compassionate and understanding wife to her husband. A caring sister and a loving daughter to our mom. #PowerPioneer
Brenda Monyebodi says
My #PowerPioneer is preacher and motivational speaker Nicolas Vujicic. He has no limbs, blind faith, courage and emotional strength and the most compassionate heart i ever saw in my lifetime. I lost my mom when i was 2 yrs old and my Dad turned to alcohol, i never had a stable home and NOBODY cared to guide me or uplift me. I learned about Nicolas Vujicic through TV shows and campaigns. His teaching and sharing his personal experiences turned my life around. He unleashed emotional strength in me i never knew i had. I have practiced his teachings and i truly look up to him. He has made me so grateful for the simple pleasures we take for granted everyday.

My mother is definitely my inspiration to do the best that I can. She has stood by me with every single thing I have ever done and every decision I have made. I have traveled, lived in many different places, tried many different things all because she encouraged me to try anything and everything. She has always been my rock when I needed her. When times were hard I always knew I could count on her and that she would have my back. I don’t believe I would have this life in anyway if it wasn’t for her.

My daughter Kaitlin is such an example to live up to. She was such a sick baby at birth and the odds were against her in so many ways. She has now grown up to be such a little fireball of life and she actually makes me feel like I want to do and be better every day.
When I am feeling down she is the one person that infects me with positive energy. Her smile and laugh is absolutely contagious!
I know she is younger than me but I would choose her a thousand times!

I’m so blessed with amazing people in my life. My family, who’ve taught me that anything is possible; my incredible husband, who has loved me before I knew what contouring was; my children, whom I learn from everyday; and my two amazing best friends, who’ve shown me that women need to stand together and support each other. As I continue to grow, I continue to learn and I will only allow positive, inspiring people in my life.

My #PowerPioneer has to be my dad. He started with nothing and only a high school education and is now an incredibly successful and sought after business man yet he has still made sure that he spends quality time with his girls. Any man that can survive in an all woman household deserves a medal!

My mom and my sister are my #PowerPioneers. My mom was diagnosed with cancer this year, and showed us how to take it in her stride and overcome the obstacles life threw at her. My sister is final year medicine this year, and still manages to have a social life and do good in the community. I have been truly blessed by these 2 powerful women in my life, and am truly grateful for them!

My #PowerPioneer is my sister, after my mom passed when I was 13, she really stepped up. She cared, loved and made sure I had everything I needed. She suffers from lupus and always wears the bravest face. I admire her so much.

My #PowerPioneer is my husband. He grew up in the poor side of Cape Town but worked hard and managed to put himself through Uni. Today he is a successful manager and lectures part time at GIBS. He is an inspiration to me every day. He taught me that when life gives you challenges, turn them into opportunities.

I can’t decide which is more magical; Kiehls’ products or my pioneer grandmother!?
My grandmother took on cancer like it was no biggie and still remains the most wonderful, calm, patient and graceful woman I know. She plays tennis regularly (Maria Scharapova of the streets) and shares my sense of humour. What a gem!
Thank you for a lovely blog! Xxx

Being a teenager when my mum fell pregnant with me at the tender age of 19. Without much of a secondary education , she was not able to earn a salary to support her child . The only option was for her to marry the father of her child with a hope of a better living . Life was no fairytale for her , my dad has done peace work to support her family . During a tough time of their life ,where the only income was taken away , she discovered that she is pregnant again .Her hardship began when she was 24 years old and her husband walked out on her children and herself .Alone in a new city , she became a strong willed woman who had to fend for her children and herself . She enrolled for a short computer course which secured her a job as admin lady . My mum earning a salary of R1500 supported her children , there was many times that I remember when we could not afford the luxury of new clothes or shoes . She will spend her evenings, sewing clothes for my brother and I . This brave , courageous and independent woman has single handily grew up two children . My dear mum has instilled great values in us and the motto that hard work and perseverance will get us our heart’s desires. At 49 , my mum is currently venturing her heart’s desire of learning how to drive and in the near future a licensed driver .She is a daily inspiration to many single mothers of today .
#PowerPioneer is my dear mom

Hi there Irina, for me its my mom. She is super strong and a major inspiration in my life. It’s though to see her sad because her very own #PowerPioneer, her mom is suffering from Altezeimers and not the vibrant lady she use to be. I HATE seeing my mom sad but she is strong through the tears and the heartache of seeing her mom fade away. <3

My #powerpioneer is my mom. I could write a book on the reasons why. We were very poor when I was growing up but she did whatever she could to provide for example my primary school was having a raffle competition where the winner would be the one who sold the most tickets and would win a bicycle. I really wanfed that bike. My mom literally walked (she didn’t have a car) the streets and the malls selling those raffle tickets for me. There are hundreds of these examples. But besides that she has always been so strong for me which makes me want to be a strong person for other people. I admire her and love her more than words can ever explain. There is nothing in this lifetime I could do to repay her but she is my everything and I make sure she knows it everyday

I do not have one #powerpoineer, I am lucky and blessed to have two. . My mom and gran, the two most inspirational, positive, living and caring women I know. My mom being a single parent, for 25 years, has done an incredible le job, working very hard so that I would never want for anything in life, I am so grateful for all she has done for me and for all the sacrifices she has made to put me first her whole life. Being October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, this post couldn’t have come as a better time. My gran was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in September 2013, 3 months later my mom found cancerous cells too.. It was an incredibly difficult time for us, it felt like my world was crumbling around me.. but being the inspirational women they are, my gran had her lymphnods removed in November and my mom had a double mastectomy in May . . They are both 101% clear now. They are true champs and make me so proud, every single day! Their fighting spirit was something out of this world! I love them both dearly, and couldn’t imagine my life without them! I would absolutely love to spoil my true #powerpoineers and pamper them with this stunning Kiehls hamper ♡

I have many #Powerpioneers but today I will tell you about the one that really stands out is my husband’s best friend who lost his one leg 5 years ago. He does not have a prosthesis yet. He works everyday and by that mean climbs a ladder as he does painting of houses. Bear in mind he uses crutches and his hands are really damaged from the crutches but he works on. He lives life to the full, drives a car, helps others where he can and never complains. He even cooks meals for the poor.
Now…this inspires me and has to be my #Powerpioneer

#powerpioneer I didn’t realize it until recently and probably that I’m 4 months away from turning 40 years old, but I found out that I am my power pioneer. It takes a while to learn or realize that if you listen to yourself and only take inspiration from what’s around you, your life will be amazing. There is a profound will and strength when you clear your mind of clutter and external influences that any challenge can be endured. I love and respect many people in my life and been inspired by many a powerful and energizing person but ultimately I am the one that goes into the world every day and decides how that day will be, drawing from many experiences that make up who I am. I am my power.

My #PowerPioneer is my 8 month old baby girl. She has changed my life for the better and have put what I called life on a totally different, meaningful pathway for which I will forever be grateful. A #PowerPioneer to me is someone who you look up to, someone that you can model yourself after. Someone who sets an example for you and someone with a good set of morals and values. My mom is this person to me. She has always been there for me, always tried to provide the best for me even in hard times. My mom as shown me right from wrong and has provided me with everything I need to succeed. She is the strongest person that I know and exhibits all the qualities of a leader and a hero. She is my #PowerPioneer and she has always been there for me.
Although many people have role models and idolize those that are famous I try and model myself after that of my mother. This is because she has never done wrong in my eyes. She has always made the decisions that put others first and the ones that ensure the safety and best interest of her family. That to me means that she is a very caring person. She has provided for me and my brother, as a single parent, all of the things that we have needed. There have been many other people in her situation who have quit and given up. But my mom has fought hard for our family and for me. With virtually no help from anyone else my mom has raised my brother and me. This has been a very taxing task for her and looking back upon it I am very thankful that she has always been there for me.
In addition to my mom always being there for me she has also inspired me. She has been setting examples for me to follow since I was little. She has been there to set rules for me and guide me. She as been there to catch me when I fall and to help me get back up when I need it. She has done all of this without asking for anything in return. She has done it all out of the goodness of her heart. She did it because she wanted the best for my brother and me. No one else in my life has helped me as much as she has.
She is my power pioneer because she has made me into who I am today. Without my mom I would not have had any of the values that she has instilled in me over the years. I would not know the virtues of good will and family. I will never be able to repay my mother for the things that she has given to me and the things that she has done for me. I can only one day hope to be this big of a hero for my own children.

#PowerPioneers I can’t say it’s just one person…..when I was a child, it was my mother, then as a teenager it was my father….later on my husband and now my 2 sons inspire me. Fabulous Kiehls giveaway ?

My #powerpionneer is my brother. As the older he grows, the wiser and more mature he is. He is a person I look up to. Whether is it work, attitude in life, to friends and family, he makes sure that it is the best interest of everyone and including himself.
When I used to be younger I always think he is naive and selfish. But I am actually the one that needs to learn alot from him.
Erica Harris says
My pioneer has to be my husband, Raymond. I’ve been with him for 35 years and although I’m only 48 now, it has been the most inspiring, exciting ride of my life. A school drop out and with no family to support him, he has gone on to build his own business, support two very ambitious daughters and give me a life I never dreamed of. With strong values and integrity beyond reproach, he makes me want to be a better person every day of my life. He is the most selfless, generous and honest person I have ever met and has taught our family so much. Believing that one needs to “learn from others’ mistakes because you cannot make them all yourself”, has been a mantra We impart to our daughters who are both strong, confident and exceptional young ladies – thanks to their dad!

A breast cancer survivor that has tought me to be patient and positive and to always see the good in people. I love her with all my heart. ♡♡♡

I try only surrounding myself with people that I find inspiring in some way, and those people are forever changing. But there are two people who stand out: My brother is one of the bravest people I know. He moved back from China this year (beautiful Chinese wife in tact) to start a new career in South Africa and be closer to his family. Things have been very tough for them though, and they might have to go back due to job scarcity, but regardless of this he manages to stay positive and pave new ways to help create a better life for him and his wife. I’ll forever cherish the time we got to spend together this year, and intend to make the most of the time they have left here. The other #PowerPioneer in my life is without a doubt my gorgeous mother. Not only is she breathtakingly beautiful (and with skin as smooth as silk), she is the person I most strive to be like. Whenever I catch myself sounding like her, I smile proudly. I feel incredibly blessed to have been raised by her, despite the challenges we had to face throughout the years. She taught me that no matter what happens, there is always something to laugh about in life.

It’s hard to pick one person who has inspired me as I’ve been lucky enough to have several people influence my life significantly. It’s impossible to mention all of them but here are the cream of the crop:
My grandparents – They formed the building blocks of our family and showed us, as grand children, what it takes to make a great family…lots of love, compassion, understanding and hardwork. If you dont work at it, it will fail! These are values I endeavour to to apply to my own family.
My parents – They’ve shown me what it takes to be good parents, which also means being a strong couple. They demonstrated the importance of being there for their children but also making time for themselves as a couple.
My husband – He’s taught me to believe in myself (even more than what I did before) and to compromise.
My daughter – She’s taught me the virtue of patience (something I always thought I had but clever it had never been tested). I never knew the depth of my patience until she arrived.
I cant imagine my life without these influences and I’m abundantly blessed for having had them! 🙂 #emotional #lovemyfamily

Like you my mom is my #PowerPioneer , she has been the slow and gentle hand over support of my 41yrs on this planet and still continues to be.
I can’t imagine what life will be one day without her it just breaks my heart to even go there. It’s not often that an only child can say that her mom is truly her best friend, sister, super mom and moral compass all in one. If nothing else she deserves her name in lights.
Best of all is now that I am getting older we even share the same skin care secrets and she is a trendy mom so we often pick out the exact same handbags, tops and shoes …it’s such a laugh!

My pioneer, my rock, my happy place, my everything is Mike, my partner.
He inspires me more than I could put into words. He pushes me everyday to be a better person, he supports me in everything I do and makes me laugh more than anyone else has ever. (I might of actually pee’d myself from laughing so hard with him once hehe)
I can spend hours with him talking about our business, goals and the future. What we are working towards and how as a team we’ll do it!
Since knowing him, I’ve set more goals for myself, achieved more than I ever thought I could, and become a more fulfilled and happy soul.
Other than my beautiful parents, I’ve never had a single person influence my life so positively than Mike has. I have no idea how I got so lucky, but I am so truly grateful its unreal, I could not imagine a world without him 🙂 xxx

My pioneer would definitely be my mother ,as a young 20 year old getting married and having her first child she battled and faced many obstacles , one of which was abuse from my dad. Over the years I’ve seen her become less of herself and try to be the pillar of strength for me and my brother . If i could do anything to erase such pain and memories from her life i would. She is a powerful someone today ,a Godly woman, a woman who took so much and still became the best she could be ,on her face you could see years of pain but with Gods grace she glows and her radiance brightens our lives . I want to be like her because she taught me how to fight and have that strength in difficult times.most of all she has taught me the power of prayer. I say this with tears in my eyes that my mom is my hero. #POWERPIONEER

My mom was a survivor and she took care of me and made sure that at school i don’t look different from other kids she was a hustler and i will always appreciate the things that she did for me and look where i am today. All because of her #MyMom #MyRock I would do anything for her. I would share this giveaway with her cause she deserve it..

This one is easy. My #powerpioneer is my husband. He’s my best friend and the person who excites and inspires me most to do and be more than I think I am sometimes capable of. He encourages me to invest only the best in myself, even all that girly stuff. He always says, ” My mom taught me that you only get one body, one chance with your skin and to take care of yourself”. That you cannot put a price tag on self worth. He’s taught me so much and how invaluable this can be in contributing to loving yourself first and in so doing being able to invest even more in those around you. I am very blessed indeed!
